What Is Radiation?

Radiation is simply energy traveling through space, and it’s a natural part of our everyday world. We are exposed to small amounts of background radiation from the Earth, outer space, and even certain foods. Rather than fearing the word “radiation,” it’s important to understand the type, amount, and purpose of its use. Science and knowledge help replace misconceptions with facts.

The “cheap wind and solar” claim is a fraud.

52 cents per kilowatt-hour.

That is the estimated cost of supplying a city of one million people with reliable electricity from a 100% wind-and-solar system—even under favorable conditions.

And that is not merely the cost of building the solar panels and wind turbines. It includes the batteries, backup systems, transmission, overbuilding, storage losses, and other infrastructure needed to keep the electricity flowing.

Put that city somewhere with more cloud cover, weaker sunlight, and frequent periods when the wind stops, and the cost could rise to 100 cents per kWh—or more.

This is what the headline LCOE figures conceal. They count the electricity generated when conditions are favorable, but ignore the enormous cost of making intermittent electricity dependable around the clock.

The public is being sold cheap electricity on paper and an expensive electricity system in reality.

52 cents per kWh on a good day. Up to a dollar—or more—when the weather stops cooperating.

That is not cheap power. It is fraudulent accounting dressed up as energy policy.
