When we speak of LED perimeter displays, people often picture the scrolling brand advertisements lining the pitch and facing the cameras at soccer games. These displays allow sponsors to maintain a constant presence before a vast audience of potential customers. Within a limited timeframe, this type of advertising maximizes brand exposure and stimulates consumer demand.
This highly effective investment method is now being adopted in indoor sports venues—such as for basketball, ice hockey, and volleyball. However, what designs are necessary when using LED perimeter displays in these smaller indoor spaces?
Take a look at the video featuring a 25m length P5 LED perimeter we recently produced for a venue. It incorporates several key design highlights:
✅ Retractable flat base. Since the back of the LED display often faces the team benches, the rear of the cabinet must remain flush. There can be no protruding structures or metal brackets that might trip players or coaches.
✅ Short cabling. Short cables should be used between cabinets to eliminate tripping hazards. Aviation connectors are positioned on the left and right sides of the cabinet back door.
✅ Flat rear side. The cabinet and the back doors are flat surface to prevent accidental bumps or collisions.
✅ Rubber module mask. The LED surface is covered with a soft, rubberized mask featuring a protective "visor". If a player collides with the LED display, this soft mask protects both the player from injury and the LED modules from damage.
✅ Top cushion. This PU cushion prevents injury from accidental contact with the cabinet top, and provides support when players lean against the cabinet briefly.
