China Has Deployed 1.425 million 5G Base Stations

's Reorganization Plan Approves in Court Decision

The custodian team of Tsinghua Unigroup received the Civil Judgment from Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court, Tsinghua Unigroup lately announced. The court ruled and approved the reorganization plan in the case of substantive consolidation and reorganization of seven firms including Tsinghua Unigroup and terminated procedures for the reorganization of the seven companies.

In the wake of the court ruling, reorganization procedures will be executed and examined by relevant authorities before being put into actual delivery. Domestic 5G mobile phone shipments reaches 266 million units in 2021

December domestic 5G mobile phone shipments were 27.1 million,and represented 81.3 percent of the total shipments.24 new 5G models were released in the month,accounting for 42.9 percent of the total new models released in the month,according to the China Mobile Phone Market Report, December. 2021 released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology On January 18.

Long-distance Charges for Landline Calls Waives between Sichuan and Chongqing

Long-distance charges for landline calls between Sichuan and Chongqing will be duly waived as of December 1, 2021, setting a precedent for the integration of communication charges for landline calls across provincial-level administrative divisions nationwide. The breaking news was co-announced by Sichuan Communications Administration and Chongqing Communications Administration at the 2021 second joint session on IT communications in Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone hosted online on November 24, 2021.

As specified in the implementation plan, the long-distance charges for landline calls between Sichuan and Chongqing as well as among cities and prefectures of Sichuan Province will be abolished, and the long-distance call charges within Chongqing and Sichuan will be lowered to CNY 0.15 per minute or below.

Allegedly the waiver of long-distance charges for landline calls will cover Sichuan and Chongqing, incorporating public and government/enterprise landline services and dedicated voice services allocated with landline office phone numbers, which is expected to save around CNY 30 million of communication charges for users annually.

CBN Starts Centralized Procurement for the 5G Core Network

On Nov. 25, China Broadcasting Network (CBN) has officially started the bid invitation for its "equipment procurement project for the 5G core network and network cloud resource pool".

It is reported that this procurement covers core network equipment and equipment of the network cloud resource pool for 31 provinces with 5G access in the south and the north regions. The upper limit of the bid price is set at 1.158 billion yuan (tax excluded). It should also be noted that, the project is not divided into several packages, meaning that there will only be 1 winning bidder.

According to the content of bid invitation, unlike the construction model of three major service providers, CBN adopts the large-area model and centralized deployment, to achieve one-stop cloud enabling with a simple structure. CBN’s choice of the single-provider model could be for the consideration of earlier launching and scale commercial application of 5G. However, there is no mention of 2B/2C being deployed in a separate or shared manner in the tender notice.

On Nov. 9, ZTE announced its establishment of the acquisition agreement with Hengjian Xinxin and Huitong Rongxin. The underlying asset of this transaction is 18.8219% the equity jointly held by Hengjian Xinxin and Huitong Rongxin in Sanechips.

It issued 85,321,100 A shares in total, accounting for about 2.15% of the total after issuance in full. Among them, 45,942,100 A shares were issued to Hengjian Xinxin, and 39,378,900 to Huitong Rongxin. The issuing price of the shares as consideration is 30.6 yuan per A share, with a restricted period of 12 months.

According to ZTE, after equity acquisition, it will control Sanechips, which will further reinforce its management of Sanechips. It will also help enhance the business efficiency of Sanechips and better prepare it for the new competition in 5G application, and further build its core competence in its main business area.

CBN launches Internal 5G Number Issuing Test

On September 23, during the 17th Shenzhen International Cultural Industries Fair, China Broadcasting Network Group Corporation Ltd. (CBN) officially launched the test on issuing 5G number beginning with 192 for internal users, a common practice of telecommunication operation or before the official commercialization of a new generation mobile communication technology, which marks a pivotal stage of 5G number issuing and operation of CBN and. During the test, CBN will inspect the operation and coordination of all aspects (including network, service, system and customer service) and complete the interconnection with other operators. On Sept. 21, China Telecom announced that its controlling shareholder China Telecom Group was to take opportunities and increase the holding of shares in this company in the following 12 months as of Sept. 22, 2021, with the planned amount of no less than RMB 4 billion. The program sets no price range. China Telecom Group will gradually implement the program based on reasonable judgment of the share price and fluctuations in price as well as the overall trend in the capital market.

China Mobile and CBN Signed the 700M Supplemental Agreement

On September 10, China Broadcasting Network Group Corporation Ltd (CBN) and China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd. (CMCC) signed 5G network co-construction & sharing supplemental agreement.

According to the “Supplemental Agreement”, both parties shall co-construct and share 700MHz wireless network based on all 700MHz frequency bands that CBN had been permitted to use by relevant national departments. China Mobile undertakes all the cost of constructing the 700MHz wireless network stipulated within the “Supplemental Agreement” in advance and enjoys the ownership of the above assets in advance. Both parties have the right to use the 700MHz wireless network. Under the premise of observing requirements of laws, regulations and supervisions, CBN may purchase, at proper time and in phase, 50% of the equipment assets including 700MHz wireless network base stations and antennas from China Mobile according to the original Agreement and the fair market evaluation price at that time. Unless agreed by the other party, neither party shall dispose (transfer, mortgage, pledge, etc.) all or part of the ownership of the 700MHz wireless network assets owned by them within the scope of cooperation. CBN pays the charge for usage of network to China Mobile based on terms of fair and square negotiation between the two parties.
