🧠 Understanding our Core Metrics - iAF and iAPF
Gelo sheds light on two core metrics - iAF and iAPF - forming the basis for all subsequent calculations.
🚀 The Roar of the Neuro-Engine
In our lively moments, we experience a wide range of sensations. From everyday routines, effortlessly transitioning between tasks, to deep immersion in focused work, each individual has a unique tendency. By analyzing EEG activity, we use iAF - individual alpha frequency (7 to 13Hz in the Alpha range) as our compass. It reveals personal inclinations towards multitasking (iAF closer to 7-9Hz) or delving into intricate challenges for hours (iAF closer to 11-13Hz).
🚗 Accelerate or Brake - iAPF Signals
During a drive, pressing the gas pedal or applying brakes changes the engine's sound and speed. Similarly, our brain's state is depicted in the iAPF - individual alpha peak frequency. This frequency peak is unique to each individual and varies based on current conditions. Comparing the individual peak (iAPF) to the normal frequency (iAF) helps determine the brain's "freshness/rested state."
💡 Real-World Applications
Anticipating fatigue early on, these markers prompt timely breaks, relaxation, and rejuvenation, enhancing team productivity. Allocating roles and tasks effectively becomes simpler, as individuals with low iAF excel at multitasking (e.g., product managers), while those with high iAF excel at deep focus (e.g., analysts). Those with moderate iAF often make effective managers, bridging communication and diverse tasks.
🔍 API Metrics and Dynamic Tracking
Our API measures iAF and iAPF after each calibration before starting work. Stay tuned for future posts detailing derived metrics for dynamic monitoring. Join the neuro-tech journey with Gelo BCI!
