BlueJ is one of the most established environments for teaching introductory object-oriented programming. With Kotlin support, students can keep BlueJ’s familiar objects-first workflow – visual class diagrams, the object bench, and direct object interaction – while writing clearer, more concise Kotlin code.

To help educators get started, we’ve prepared onboarding materials for teaching OOP with Kotlin in BlueJ, including explanations, examples, classroom projects, and practice materials that can be opened directly in BlueJ.
