I’m excited to introduce IBEX 3, our newest portable RFID reader for remote race checkpoints.
It was designed for the kind of places where race checkpoints often need to be: somewhere in the terrain, away from roads, without power, and sometimes even without internet.
The setup is simple. Put IBEX 3 in your backpack, hike to the checkpoint, unpack it, press the power button, turn on a hotspot on your phone, and the reader is ready to use.
And when internet is not available, IBEX 3 can work offline too. It stores the reads and uploads the data later when connection is available again.
It is lightweight, weather resistant, and made for outdoor use. The internal battery runs for up to 3 hours at full read power, and with an external USB-C power bank it can be extended up to 9 hours.
IBEX 3 has 1 internal antenna and supports up to 4 external antennas, making it a practical solution for intermediate checkpoints with lower chip density, around up to 10 reads per second.
For me, IBEX 3 is about giving organizers more freedom when planning races. Checkpoints should be placed where they make sense for the course, not only where power, road access, or infrastructure is available.
I’m really happy to finally share it with you.
IBEX 3. Easy setup, total freedom.
