Q2 2026 had two stories running at the same time.
𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗔: 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.
✅The biggest botnet we tracked shrank from 13.5 million devices to 2.09 million, perhaps thanks to a coordinated takedown by the US, Canada, and Germany.
✅BGP hijacking incidents: zero.
✅Bad bot volumes dropped 27.8% from Q1.

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗕: 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲.
⚠️12 attacks above 1 Tbps in Q2 alone. In all of 2025, we recorded only 6.
⚠️The two most intense attacks of the quarter hit betting platforms during the World Cup: 1.64 Tbps and 1.58 Tbps.
⚠️Multi-vector attacks keep climbing.

The Portugal vs Croatia match was decided by a strand of hair. For betting platforms, the margin is even smaller. That last-minute moment sends millions of people to place a bet, and the platforms that go down in that moment don't get a second chance with those users.

Attackers don't watch the World Cup for the football.

This week we recorded a 1.35 Tbps DDoS attack on one of our betting clients and a sharp CDN traffic spike at another company in the same sector. Screenshots below. 📊Both stayed online. The kind of result you only get when protection is sorted before the first match, not scrambled after the first attack.

The best time to prepare was before the tournament started. The second best time is now.
