U řídicích jednotek kotlů se často stává, že vlivem tepla ztuhne vazelína v hřídeli enkodéru (otočného voliče), který pak jde ztuha a nefunguje spolehlivě. Tady se po první topné sezóně přestal enkodér točit úplně. Vazelína ztuhlá nebyla, do hřídele se dostala špona, která hřídel zablokovala.

Čekání na nový enkodér je v topné sezóně nepřípustné, tak je vždy třeba opravit stávající, oprava je pak na počkání.

With boiler control units, it often happens that heat causes the grease in the encoder shaft (rotary selector) to harden, making the encoder stiff and unreliable. In this case, after the first heating season the encoder stopped turning completely. The grease hadn’t hardened, but a metal shaving had made its way into the shaft and jammed it.

Waiting for a new encoder during the heating season is unacceptable, so the existing one has to be repaired instead — which makes it a while-you-wait fix.

Myš v troubě 🐭

Dostala se mi k opravě trouba, která hřála na vyšší než nastavenou teplotu. Po zapnutí ovšem trouba vybavila proudový chránič. Většinou se takto projevuje svod v některém z topných těles, to jsem ovšem po jejich proměření vyloučil.

Po postupném odpojování prvků a měření jsem usoudil, že problém bude někde na přívodu do trouby. Tam už stačila jen vizuální kontrola, do přívodního konektoru totiž zalezla myš🐁 což se jí stalo osudné⚡

Po odstranění myši jsem se mohl zaměřit na původní poruchu, kdy trouba hřála víc, než bylo nastaveno. To se stává zpravidla u levnějších trub, kde odchází mechanický termostat. U této trouby vybavené elektronikou, která má místo termostatu teplotní snímač, bylo slepené relé, které trvale napájelo těleso horkého vzduchu. Relé stačilo vyměnit a trouba je opět plně funkční.

Mouse in the oven🐭

I got an oven in for repair that was heating to a higher temperature than set. However, after turning the oven on, it immediately tripped the RCD. This kind of behavior usually points to leakage in one of the heating elements, but measurements ruled that out.

By gradually disconnecting individual parts and measuring, I concluded that the problem had to be somewhere in the power supply to the oven. There, a simple visual inspection was enough — a mouse 🐁had crawled into the power connector, which proved fatal for it⚡

After removing the mouse, I could focus on the original fault, where the oven was overheating. This is common in cheaper ovens with a mechanical thermostat that tends to fail. In this case, however, the oven was electronically controlled, using a temperature sensor instead of a thermostat. The issue turned out to be a stuck relay that continuously powered the convection heating element. Replacing the relay was all it took, and the oven is now fully functional again.

Robotický vysavač Xiaomi vykazoval poruchu nárazníku. U tohoto modelu nejsou v nárazníku klasické spínače, ale optické závory přímo na desce elektroniky, které jsou přerušovány ramenem, které přenáší pohyb od nárazníku.

Ještě před demontáží nárazníku bylo zjevné, že půjde o mechanický problém, rameno bylo totiž zaseknuté uvnitř. Opíralo se o snímač závory, který byl vytržený z desky. Naštěstí snímač nebyl poškozen, takže jej stačilo připájet zpět a vysavač opět funguje👍

The Xiaomi robotic vacuum cleaner showed a bumper fault. In this model, the bumper does not use conventional switches, but optical interrupters mounted directly on the electronics board, which are blocked by an arm that transfers the bumper’s movement.

Even before disassembling the bumper, it was clear that this was a mechanical issue—the arm was jammed inside. It was pressing against the interrupter sensor, which had been torn off the circuit board. Fortunately, the sensor itself was not damaged, so it was enough to solder it back in place, and the vacuum cleaner is working again👍

Ovladač LG magic remote se začal chovat nevyzpytatelně, reagoval na povely pouze sporadicky, někdy generoval povely sám.

Stačilo, aby malá krušina zapadla na správné místo, a mikrokontrolér byl zahlcen požadavky. Po vyčištění kontaktů funguje ovladač jako nový.

The LG Magic Remote started behaving unpredictably – it responded to commands only sporadically and sometimes even generated commands on its own.

A tiny piece of dirt lodged in just the wrong place was enough to flood the microcontroller with false inputs. After cleaning the contacts, the remote works like new again.

Čistička vzduchu Ionic-CARE nešla zapnout. Po demontáži byla zjištěna vadná pojistka, což obvykle signalizuje závadu ve výkonové části. To se také potvrdilo po změření výkonového tranzistoru, který byl proražený. Po jeho výměně a po výměně pojistky čistička opět čistí 💨

The Ionic-CARE air purifier wouldn’t turn on. After disassembly, a blown fuse was found, which usually indicates a fault in the power section. This was confirmed by measuring the power transistor, which had failed short-circuit. After replacing the transistor and the fuse, the air purifier is cleaning again 💨
