Coaching Practice 2030, what will it look like?
Coaching is an integrated part of many organizations now due to the changed requirements of the modern work environment. We are flooded by information; it's complex, leadership culture changed, and we must deliver more in less time.
There is a huge risk in automatization trends for business models who sell "democratized coaching for all", but don't fully integrate common professional coaching quality standards.
Coaching is in high demand, however, offered at a low price (e.g., "Coaching Apps") since more and more automation and scaling opportunities are integrated into business models.
You can guess what this does to the high-quality 1:1 coaching practice as we know it…
Coaching is meant to analyze personal needs, motives, conditions, etc., in-depth to detect the uniqueness in common.
"Rapport," the relationship between coach and client, is known to be the critical success factor!
Thus, "Premium Coachings" will not become extinct, but they may become more technological.
The keyword is HYBRID COACHING.
It is combining the best of two worlds. Real, long and short, on and offline sessions.
The bigger problem I see right now is that coaches are not tech-affine. Most technological tools used for the modern coaching practice as it stands right now have been built without them.
Coaches need to get involved in the discussion and explore solutions besides Zoom, Mural, and Miro boards.
I hear very often that "Zoom+ does an okay job," – but really, is "okay" a standard you want to deliver to your clients? We can't just be okay with this!
And I am not okay that the coaching techniques of the future are built without the professional coaching standards and needs that most of us stand for.
Will we adjust the hybrid coaching to the technology available to us and hope "CoachTech" will eventually get better, or will we actively engage?
It's up to us how 2030 looks like; the tech industry can do it with or without us.
