AFMG is heading to InfoComm 2026 in Las Vegas, and we’re bringing major EASE 5 workflow innovations with us.

InfoComm, one of the world’s leading trade shows for professional AV and integrated experience technologies, takes place June 17–19, 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

At our booth, we’ll showcase three powerful new additions to EASE 5:

🔹Real-time Frequency Response evaluation at any point in the audience

🔹Environmental noise simulation for outdoor events through the APS exchange format, developed in collaboration with IMMI

🔹And one more major feature announcement coming shortly before the show — stay tuned!

With real-time Frequency Response visualization, system designers can instantly validate tonal balance, subwoofer integration, line array aiming, immersive audio layouts, and overall system performance directly inside the venue simulation - now including room acoustic effects.

For open-air events and festivals, the new APS workflow enables seamless export of sound radiation data from sound systems in EASE 5 into IMMI for advanced environmental noise immission simulations. Developed together with IMMI, APS is an open format designed for future integration with additional environmental noise simulation platforms.

What once required separate tools and time-consuming post-processing is becoming a faster, more integrated, and more interactive workflow inside EASE 5.

We are glad to announce that our esteemed colleague Martina Lange celebrates 10 years at AFMG this spring!

After successful careers as both a project manager and test engineer at IBM, as well as a business consultant for several major insurance companies, Martina joined us in 2016 to try something new. She was AFMG’s first full-time agile tester and quickly became an integral part of our newly formed development team. Martina’s business experience, her organizational talent, and her engineering degree helped us jump-start professional quality control across our software solutions. ln large part, it is thanks to Martina that all our newly developed code is under automated test coverage, and bugs have become much rarer!

In addition to software engineering, as an agile tester Martina also represents the user’s perspective in the development team. She regularly interviews power users across the world and participates in trade shows and product presentations. As such, she takes care of one of our main channels for customer feedback. Last but not least, Martina deals with several AFMG key customers and manages proprietary development projects with third parties. Her kind attitude and open communication ensure that all parties involved find their needs discussed and considered properly.

We are very thankful for Martina’s dedication to AFMG. She contributes greatly to the development of EASE, EASE Focus and the whole company. She is also a source of expertise and a good friend for her colleagues in the development team. We appreciate her a lot.

Martina found that she enjoys the world of audio and acoustics . Lucky us! Now we are looking forward to the next decade together!

Join us in congratulating Martina in the comments!

We are pleased to announce that our North American partners, Ana Jaramillo and Bruce C. Olson, will be attending the 190th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, to be held in Philadelphia from May 11 to 15, 2026.

You can find them giving the following presentations:

Monday, May 11 | 3:20 PM | Session 1pAA7
Bruce Olson presents "Adventures with Bob Coffeen, teaching professionals about modeling, sound system design, and acoustic design, music and speech." during the commemorative session honouring Robert Coffeen. Bob was a legendary educator and a beloved colleague to many in our community.

Tuesday, May 12 | 11:15 AM | Session 2aAAb9
Ana Jaramillo and Bruce Olson present "Auralization of babble noise in a lobby.” A topic with practical implications for anyone designing spaces where conversation is the main sound source.

Thursday, May 14 | 9:40 AM | Session 4aCA3
Stefan Feistel, Bruce Olson, and Ana Jaramillo present "Practical differences in statistical and raytracing methods for calibrating room models and acoustic simulation." This talk bridges the gap between theory and practical work in acoustic simulation workflows.

If you are attending the ASA meeting, come say hello!

Last week we had the honor of hosting Michael Vorländer and one of his PhD students, Joao Fatela, at our Berlin headquarters.

Michael is not only a well-known authority in many fields of acoustics but he is also the current president of the Acoustical Society of America. As the long-term head and professor of the Institute of Technical Acoustics Aachen (now IHTA Aachen) he has guided many Master and PhD students through their research projects. And even after his nominal retirement last year, Michael continues his research work and supports students worldwide.

Our talks last week centered around current research topics related to simulation methods of sound scattering by means of the acoustic radiance transfer model developed by Joao Fatela as well as the measurement of the bidirectional reflection factor and its integration into acoustic simulation by Anne Heimes. The two have published valuable JASA and DAGA papers about the topic in the past years.

We thank all three of you for your time and input. For us at AFMG, gaining insights from fundamental research is crucial and helps us developing the EASE simulation engine in the right direction. See you again soon!

Achieving high-fidelity results in complex acoustic environments requires a seamless bridge between system configuration and predictive modeling. We are pleased to highlight that Pan Acoustics has further refined this process by introducing support for the SGLC format, creating a more efficient interoperability between hardware configuration and electro-acoustic simulation in EASE 5.

Users can now export SGLC data directly from Pan Beam Setup version 5 for immediate integration into AFMG EASE 5. This workflow fully supports the Acousteer real-time simulation engine, ensuring that even the most intricate steerable loudspeaker configurations are represented with the highest level of simulation accuracy.

The KINOPOLIS multiplex cinema at Hamburg’s Westfield Überseequartier features a striking multi-level foyer that connects restaurants, circulation areas, and cinema levels across several floors. While visually impressive, this open and reflective architecture creates significant acoustic challenges.

To ensure clear speech transmission for announcements and emergency communication, acoustic consultant Melanie Ziska from SAVE audio solutions GmbH developed a simulation-driven sound system design using EASE 5.

Key challenges included:
🔹 Highly reflective materials such as glass, concrete, and aluminum
🔹 Strong acoustic coupling between multiple open floors
🔹 Complex architectural elements like smoke curtains, stair openings, and HVAC installations
🔹 High and constantly changing background noise from large visitor numbers
🔹 Strict safety requirements under DIN VDE 0833-4

Using detailed 3D modeling and the EASE AURA module, Melanie analyzed the entire complex as a single acoustic system and developed an optimized loudspeaker concept. The result is reliable speech intelligibility across all levels, even under demanding operating and emergency scenarios.

A great example of how acoustic simulation helps align ambitious architecture with safety-critical communication systems.

Thanks for sharing, Melanie!
