What security challenges do Americans face while storing their documents 📑?
We’re excited to share insights from a recent iScanner survey exploring how Americans store and protect their documents, and what security features matter most. Here are the most interesting takeaways:
✔️Americans prefer storing important documents in digital formats: in the cloud (60%), on computers (59%), and on phones (52%), in emails and messages (33%). Only 31% of respondents keep documents in physical form at home or in the office.
✔️ Users scan documents because they are easy to share (57%), useful for applications, forms, and official requests (55%), convenient to access anytime (50%), helpful for editing or signing (39%), and considered more reliable than paper copies by 22% of respondents.
✔️25% of Americans have experienced situations where their documents could have been stolen or lost, including leaving paper documents in public places (5%), losing devices containing documents (5%), experiencing device theft (4%), or having digital accounts hacked (8%).
✔️When it comes to securing digital documents, respondents consider two-factor authentication the most valuable feature (58%), followed by password protection for individual files (52%), app locking via password or biometrics (49%), and remote data deletion in case of device loss or theft (48%).
In response to these insights, iScanner - PDF Document Scanner recently introduced two-factor authentication (2FA), adding an extra layer of protection to its existing security features, such as remote data deletion, password locks, decoy passwords, and temporary sharing links.
