Why do i need a Stromtank?
Modern households are more wirelessly connected than ever before. Wi-Fi routers, DECT phones, smartphones, tablets, and smart home systems are constantly active – and they all not only access the power grid but also influence it. Switching power supplies, high-frequency oscillators, and constant data communication generate a wide spectrum of high-frequency "junk" that is distributed via the power grid. This interference is often far beyond what conventional measuring devices can detect, but it can significantly affect sensitive audio equipment. Digital and analog circuits are equally sensitive to such interference. Sonically, this often manifests as harshness: high frequencies sound harsher, voices lose their naturalness, and prolonged listening becomes more tiring. Power conditioners are a proven method for counteracting these effects – they filter RF interference and stabilize the power supply. However, even here, the following applies: as long as the source of the interference is active on the same network, some residual interference remains. The most effective approach is complete isolation. The standard Stromtank SEQ-5 equips all five outlets with Stromtank's patented DDS circuit, filtering out interference from switch-mode power supplies. That suits most setups — until power-hungry amplifiers enter the picture, where the current draw can push the DDS circuit past its limits.
Enter the green-labeled SEQ-5 Pure. Only one outlet carries DDS filtering; the other four are built for high current, giving demanding amplifiers the headroom they need. The split lets users route sensitive gear through the filtered outlet and heavier loads through the rest.
Both units share the same foundation: sequential power-on for gentle startup, rhodium-plated copper contacts, a shielding stainless-steel-aluminum-magnesium housing, and the familiar phase tester.
