It’s official: spring is here! 🌼 With the weather getting warmer, it’s a great time to go outside, enjoy some sunlight and boost your immune system.

It is important to support your immune system. There is extensive communication between our immune and nervous systems, and regular heart rate variability (HRV) measurements allow for the improved self-management of our health.

To find out how HRV can be used to prevent diseases, read the article ➡️

Is hybrid work here to stay?

Different studies (eg. by TravelPerk) confirm that 70-80% of companies have shifted to a hybrid work model.

The survey conducted by Owl Labs found that 76% of respondents said working from home after the pandemic would make them happier, and 3 in 4 said that home office is better for their mental health.

The research for Chartered Management Institutehighlights the productivity growth: "We are experiencing an uptick in productivity, and an uptick in many companies results. … It would be very short sighted of bosses not to see some correlation in the shift in the working world, and the move towards hybrid working", said CMI chief executive Ann Francke.

Nevertheless, the government in Germany has eliminated the home office obligation which was applied during the pandemic. Most employees are supposed to get back to the offices starting March 20th.

How does your company handle this?

Big changes start with small steps👣

Dora Kamau, lead meditation teacher at Headspace, reminds how a simple breathwork can transform your life: “Our breath is synonymous with life. To be alive is to be breathing. So, when we can intentionally change the way we breathe, we can change the way we respond to life itself and this is so powerful.”

Have a great start into the week! 😌

February is American Heart Month ❤️.

We at Kenkou believe that the best way to celebrate, is to take more care of our health & to reduce stress 🧘‍♂️.

Stress can result in symptoms such as insomnia, difficulty to concentrate, fatigue, headaches, muscle tension, indigestion, and other symptoms. But chronic stress can lead to health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, anxiety disorders, and disorders of the digestive system.

Stress is not a disease ❗️, it is the body's natural physical, mental, and emotional reaction to an external stressor.

Most commonly the general sources of stress are money, work, family responsibilities, health concerns, or traumatic events.

While it is almost impossible to live a stress-free life, it is definitely possible (and essential) to learn to handle it in a healthy way. Below you will find the 5 evidence-based tips on how to cope with stress. ⬇️

Anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, depression… If you haven’t experienced any of these, lucky you. But you probably heard of them before. ⬇️

According to American Psychological Association, 84% of adults in the US reported feeling at least one emotion associated with prolonged stress. ⚠️

Did you know that physical isolation may have long-lasting negative consequences, especially for mental health? 😞 The prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms during COVID-19 have doubled in comparison with pre-pandemic estimates.

We can take action against this - let’s try to get better together: 💪
In this situation of raised anxiety levels, exercise and enough sleep is very important, and of course meditation can help as well. We suggest tracking your HRV (Heart Rate Variability) combined with relaxing and controlled breathwork. 😉

Have you heard of Boxed Breathing or Diaphragmatic Breathing? This helps you to calm your nervous system. The processes are not very complex. With our technology using biofeedback, we want to provide you with a simple way of gaining some control.

Why breathwork is so helpful and how you can benefit from tracking your HRV, learn in this article: ➡️ https://hubs.ly/Q014gtZn0

How was your week? 🍎
Did you practice your conscious breathing exercises? 🙏

1. What did you feel? 💝
2. What did you learn? 📚
3. What will you change? 💪

Feedback ♻️ is very important. Biofeedback exercises are important as well.
As important as planning your week is, it is also important to take time to reflect: on your actions, thoughts and feelings in order to learn & adjust, before the next week starts.

➡️ Biofeedback can help you: the exercises leverage the mind-body connection in order to improve physical and mental health. It can be used to improve sleep, reduce stress, decrease anxiety, improve digestion, and strengthen the immune system.

1 in 11 people will be diagnosed with PTSD in their lifetime, according to American Psychological Association.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. During and after a traumatic situation, fear comes naturally and it triggers a “fight-or-flight” response. But individuals who do not naturally recover from symptoms and continue to feel stressed or frightened, even when they are not in danger, may be diagnosed with PTSD.

This is where HRVB comes in. Heart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB) is a non-invasive treatment of various stress-related disorders that helps patients to self-regulate a physiological dysregulated vagal nerve.

How to integrate HRVB training into treatment of PTSD❓

The fight against chronic pain can be won, as Dr. Lorimer Moseley suggested.

Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons why adults seek medical care. Linked to numerous physical and mental conditions, it contributes to high healthcare costs and a decrease in productivity.

This is where HRVB comes in. Heart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB) is a non-invasive therapy training aiming at increasing heart rate oscillations through real-time feedback and slow breathing training.

Raouf Gharbo and other scientists describe the positive effects of HRVB training on patients with chronic pain. It has been shown to restore autonomic health, and reduce the severity of chronic pain symptoms.
