Call for Papers: On May 14th 2015 in Berlin, LinuxTag supports the event OpenTechSummit by organising an own Linux/OSS track. This might be about current incidents or about a useful hack you personally found out unrelated to some brandnew topic.

Is there something you want to let people know? What are you waiting for! Please use the form below to submit your idea.

Mal.

Eurer LinuxTag e.V.!

Behind the scenes of (part 6) Folks: There won't be a this year. It's true. Shed a silver tear. pling

Okay, just kidding. The true truth shall be revealed. Omm...

LinuxNacht and partner droidcon Berlin join forces for the social event, too - one evening to come together as visitor, speaker, exhibitor, stranger - to be just community. Therefore, there won't be a LinuxNacht. But! LinuxNacht and droidcon join, proudly present and heartily invite to:

The BuddyNight :D

(=> as from the buddies in the attached pic, derived from the joint overall concept of LinuxTag and droidcon.)

Ok, so now what about behind the scenes: No LinuxNacht - as if! We put so much effort in BuddyNight as we usually do for LinuxNacht. Not to mention all the akquired stuff to turn the place into a really inspiring space - for just one evening!

But at first, we had a serious problem to sort out where our evening event possibly can take place. The halls of LinuxTag and droidcon are quite stuffed - and since there are talks going in in the evening, it would have been a pretty poor solution to just pop up a sign "BuddyNight" in the mid of some booths, chairs and hurrying people.

We found a solution: Two splendid rooms about 100 square meters each, exactly where LinuxTag/droidcon takes place (well okay, about four steps to the side). With naked shabby stone walls and arc ceilings, typical "fu**ed up" and wondrously charming style of industrial Berlin diverted from its intended use. For: There comes the decoration. It is not THAT much, but - it is quite selected and will be just splendid - at least we hope so. We cannot tell much of that here, because we have to see if everything works out. :o)

Did we mention that we still need field helps? For BuddyNight as well as for other things! Please come at 6.50 pm to the STATION at Wednesday before LinuxTag. Or else, help building the BuddyNight at 6 pm on Thursday. Thank you!

Ok, on with the show. We have an own DJ in one of the rooms. We have Theo D. (http://theo-dege.net) accompanying us while sitting around (we are still trying to organise some flip charts as well, for playing with ideas while sipping drinks - we somehow think this is a good idea). He is using CC licensed music for his work, let it be his own production or him sampling other people's art to another level. Very nice. And we have him!

In the other room we have a bar. This bar room is more close to the end-of-event party of LinuxTag partner re:publica This party is directly beside BuddyNight. Everyone can mingle.

Please be aware: There will be no free food and drinks this year at the social event. There isn't free catering at re:publica, and in general there is no entrance fee in the evening hours. So free catering in the evening (! during the day it's another story) is unrepresantable from the organiser's view.

The more silent, cosy "Lounge" concept of BuddyNight is meant to complete the re:publica party scene, where the folks will be just happy about their successful event adventure. Whereas two-thirds of ours - LinuxTag and droidcon - will still lay before us. :) Everyone from re:publica, LinuxTag and droidcon shall mingle, there won't be no badge limits, and the entrance is free.

Have a look: This is where the LinuxTag crowd comes from, that will rock and Berlin next week (May 8-10 in ) as visitor, speaker, exhibitor or team! :D

Note that the pics only show LinuxTag people. droidcon people are not included, because we snipped the map out of LinuxTag ticketshop (droidcon has its own). And these pics represent only 70 percent, since 30 percent didn't state where they come from.

Dear all, especially people of Berlin! Even though we are really really busy organising LinuxTag 2014 -- yes, even the conference program is online only since a few days... we are truthfully sorry for the delay :'-( -- we would like to meet with you one more time before the big event and discuss any questions face to face.

So let's meet TODAY, Friday, April 25th 2014, at Restaurant Albert's in Charlottenburg, from 7 to 11 pm:

Alberts Restaurant - Stuttgarter Platz
Stuttgarter Platz 13, 10627 Berlin
Tel.: 030 - 41 99 69 40

Close to S-Bahn station "Charlottenburg" (take the north exit)

We reserved a table. The meeting note was sent to all volunteers and projects and all veterans (crew + projects) as well. Let's see how many people will show up. You are welcome!

P.S. We will bring freshly printed community cards and posters with us, see them in the attached photo.
