✈️ Back from APEX Expo in Long Beach after three days of inspiring conversations and presentations!

Our main takeaway: LEO connectivity is gaining real momentum — opening fresh opportunities for connected aircraft and richer onboard experiences. At the same time, some fundamentals such as licensing rights are still being worked out in this new landscape. We are excited to be part of this transformation, turning new possibilities into realities and working with partners to figure out the moving pieces.

Thanks to everyone we met — the conversations and exchange of ideas were the real highlight!

🔐 Content security is no longer optional; it’s a critical, interdisciplinary challenge.

The SVTA Security Working Group brings together industry leaders to define best practices that safeguard streaming platforms and their content.

The group’s latest publication is now live:
OTT Streaming CDN Security Best Practices: https://www.svta.org/product/svta5062/ - Led by Brian Paxton, this in-depth guide is available for free on the SVTA website.

While "CDN" is in the title, the document goes well beyond delivery networks. It covers crucial topics including:

▪️ Watermarking
▪️ Logging

But it doesn’t stop there , the Security WG is already working on what's next:

Metadata is a fundamental part of any media application, whether OTT or broadcast, VoD or live, subscription-based or ad-supported.

To help navigate the complex field of metadata standards and use cases, the Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA) maintains a Content Metadata Landscape document. Originally published in 2021, the SVTA Metadata Working Group has now released a 2025 revision.

Quoting the abstract:

“This document provides an overview of what content metadata is, how it's used, and the associated challenges, emphasizing the importance of content metadata standards and normalization for seamless integration across varied systems and lifecycle stages.”
