🔍 What is Dyspraxia? 🔍

Dyspraxia, often known as Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), affects motor skills and coordination. This means activities like writing, organizing, or even balancing can require extra effort. It’s often linked to neurodivergence and can impact daily life in ways that are less obvious to others.
While it can pose challenges, many with dyspraxia develop strong problem-solving skills and unique perspectives. Embracing these differences is key to creating more understanding environments for everyone. 🌱✨

From Grief to Growth: My ADHD Journey

I hear people say their ADHD diagnosis was a life-changer and it was for me too. But it took time to get there. So, if you’re newly diagnosed, know this: it’s okay to feel angry, frustrated, even lost. You don’t have to feel instant relief or clarity. It’s a journey, and all I can say is this: it’s worth it. 🌟
When I got diagnosed at 21 because of panic attacks, it didn’t feel like a breakthrough moment. Instead, I felt a deep sense of grief, for the life I could have had if I’d known sooner, or if ADHD wasn’t part of my story. 😞 Back then, there wasn’t much support. My psychologist literally told me, “You’re managing, so no need to change anything.” So, I carried on, always feeling different, out of place.
It took years for me to start figuring out what I was really good at and what I truly struggled with. I spent so long blaming myself, wondering why I could outshine people with creative ideas and solve problems no one else could, yet struggle with basic stuff like paying bills or even putting my sweater on the right way.💡 And honestly, some of that’s still true today.
But over the years, I’ve learned to lean into my strengths and get support when it comes to my challenges. 💪 That was the real game-changer. It’s allowed me to build a successful career and find balance in my personal life. I’m still learning every day about my ADHD and myself. I still procrastinate, still put my sweater on backward every day. But learning to accept the hard parts and focus on my strengths: that’s been huge.
Today, I wouldn’t trade my ADHD for anything. I wouldn’t change it. It’s a part of me. But it was a journey to get here. So if you’re just starting on that path, it’s okay to be mad, angry, or frustrated. It’s a journey, and it’s worth it. 🚀

🌱 What is High Sensitivity? 🌱

High sensitivity is a heightened awareness of sensory input like light, sound, or emotions, which can often lead to a rich, deeply felt experience of the world. Some neurodivergent individuals, such as those with ADHD or autism, may also experience high sensitivity, but one can be highly sensitive without additional neurodivergent traits. 🌍✨

While it can enable strong empathy and a profound connection to one’s surroundings, balance is key for well-being. Embracing these sensitivities is part of fostering an neuroinclusive community.

Why Building IKEA Furniture Is One of My Guilty Pleasures 🛠️

I know it sounds odd, but there’s something about cracking open a box of IKEA parts, laying out all the pieces, and following those quirky, wordless instructions that just works for me. Building IKEA furniture is my version of meditation, and here’s why I love it:

Step-by-Step Clarity: There’s a plan. A clear start, middle, and finish. For a mind that’s always bouncing between thoughts, having a straightforward path to follow is strangely calming.

Hands-On Focus: Every turn of the screw and every piece snapping into place keeps me focused in the moment. It’s one of those rare times when I can quiet my thoughts and just… be.

That Sweet Satisfaction: In the end, I have something tangible that I built from a pile of parts. Seeing it come together reminds me that progress really does happen one step at a time, even if it starts in a flat box.

Is it silly? Maybe. But it’s my guilty pleasure, and it works for me. So if anyone ever needs a hand with IKEA furniture… you know who to call 😉

🧠 What is High Intellectual Potential in Neurodiversity?

High Intellectual Potential (IQ 130+) is just one form of neurodiversity. It’s about having unique intellectual strengths—problem-solving, creativity, and abstract thinking. 🎨 But success for gifted individuals isn’t guaranteed. It depends on the right support, motivation, and environment to truly thrive. 🌱
High Intellectual Potential is part of the broader neurodiverse spectrum, highlighting the need for personalized development.

🔍 What’s Face Blindness? 🤔

Face blindness, or prosopagnosia, is a condition where people struggle to recognize faces—even of those they know well! 😳 It varies in severity from person to person. Some may only have trouble with unfamiliar faces, while others may not even recognize close family members.

For those with ADHD and other neurodivergent minds, this can add another layer of challenge to social situations. But here’s the thing: it doesn’t mean someone isn’t friendly or sociable; they just might not connect the dots like most do!

If you know someone who struggles with this, remember: it's not about being rude or unfriendly—it’s just a different way of processing the world! 🌍
Have you or someone you know experienced this? Let’s spread awareness! 💚
