Today, we're proud to announce our partnership with Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Students can now meet at the virtual café and (re)connect with fellow students - easier, more spontaneous, and across the globe 👨‍🎓☕️🌍

The digital semester is a huge challenge for all universities. Students who have started their studies within the last 12 months have had a totally new and somewhat "isolated" experience compared to prior semesters. We are happy that FS has a strong culture and is committed to giving their students a great campus experience, despite these new challenges 💪

This shows how modern technology can help people to network and build meaningful relationships - one (virtual) coffee at a time 🤝

The network people build within their organizations, whether its universities, companies, or other communities can be extremely valuable and enriching. When most things become remote, we must look for new ways to interact with each other, without losing serendipity and authentic, spontaneous encounters ✨

2020 hat uns als sicherlich auf eine harte Probe gestellt. Herausgekommen ist aber eine Haltung, die uns noch stärker klar gemacht hat, wer wir sind und was wir erreichen möchten.

Im zweiten Quartal 2020 haben wir aufgrund der Pandemie unser virtuelles Matching eingeführt, eine Art "digitale Kaffeeküche".

Bei einer sich wohl nachhaltig verändernden, deutlich stärker von Remote- und New Work-Modellen geprägten Arbeitsweise sehen wir hierin viel mehr als nur eine spontane, aus der Not geborene Anpassung unserer und unserer Philosophie.

Wir setzen uns auch 2021 dafür ein, Unternehmen und Communities dazu zu befähigen, mithilfe unserer App möglichst flexibel und spontan viele neue Begegnungen zu schaffen. Denn und sind mitunter das Wichtigste, was wir haben.

Wir sind zuversichtlich, wieder Zeiten zu erleben, in denen wir uns online als auch wieder offline sehen können um wie gewohnt zu reisen, zu feiern, zu lachen, zu essen und zu arbeiten.

Es war uns eine große Freude zu Gast im Podcast "making the workplace a better place" von Rutta Mekonen zu sein.
Ganz nach Ruttas Motto: "Let´s be the change we want to see in the world", haben wir gemeinsam darüber gesprochen, wie wir uns die Arbeitswelt von morgen vorstellen, was wir uns für die Zukunft wünschen und noch über viele weitere Dinge.

Entstanden ist ein tolles Gespräch und ein Interview, bei dem wir uns so wohlgefühlt haben, dass es sich fast angefühlt hat, als würden wir Rutta schon Ewigkeiten kennen – obwohl wir sie eigentlich ganz zufällig und unverbindlich über einem Kaffee kennengelernt haben :)

In the upcoming weeks we'll introduce you to our Stickies – stay tuned to find out what we'll be launching by the end of this series. You can take a guess 🤓:

a) Get stickies as a reward by Coffee- or LunchBuddies you've had a match with and collect them in the LuBu app
b) Choose your favorite Stickie as a default profile picture
c) Get your favorite Stickie printed on a shirt or a pair of socks

This was our launch party, not even a year ago. Looking back, we realize the privilege of hosting/attending events such as this one. With LuBu, we set out to change offline meetings for coffee and lunch. Well, it changed... by the events happening shortly after.

Everything, also social interaction, became digital. Within 14 days, LuBu was available worldwide, as a video call was the only option to meet.

Having a digital coffee or lunch sometimes still feels odd. But this “new normal” showed us two things:

1. We all still crave personal interaction and all of us have found many ways to stay connected, as we do not “bump” into each other in the coffee kitchen any longer.

2. Digital tools help decrease this social distance. We can now meet an old colleague for digital lunch. Shortly after, we can grab a digital coffee with a New York-based HR professional we have never talked to before.

Although we hope to go back to the "old normal", we have learned an so much about ourselves as a global, connected society.
