A London landmark reimagined.

The historic Whiteley department store in Bayswater has been transformed into a high-quality mixed-use development. As part of this remarkable project, seele delivered an extensive façade package, including steel window systems, shopfront façades, penthouse glazing and three steel-and-glass domes.

Connecting the new façades to the building’s more than 100-year-old steel structure called for precise engineering, careful planning and close coordination.

| Installation Update 🏗️
The third gridshell is taking shape: the final steel segment has been successfully lifted into place. The segments of the entrance „Tower“ are temporarily connected to the spatial scaffolding and will be precisely aligned in the next stage.

An enclosure will be installed to allow the subsequent welding work to take place entirely inside the structure We can‘t quite image that yet, but bad weather and Winter are approaching 🌧️

A key milestone has been completed - achieved with precision, expertise, and close coordination🤝

Transformation has begun – glass canopy for Chicago’s iconic State/Lake Station

The historic State/Lake elevated station is getting a redesign. At its heart: a 2,300 sqm glass canopy, engineered and manufactured by seele. The transparent roof structure, made of glass and aluminium, will turn the 130-year-old station into a bright, architecturally distinctive gateway for urban mobility.
