The C/O Berlin Talent Award 2026 is dedicated to the theme Body Politics. The term describes the complex interplay of power, institutions, and discourses that shape, control, or render bodies (in)visible. In a time marked by multiple overlapping crises, the body once again emerges as a central site of resistance, identity, and memory. What role do photography and lens-based media play in making these
tensions visible and reflecting upon them? This year’s theme invites participants to explore the body as a political field, as an archive of experience, or a medium at the
intersection of the individual and society.

The award honors both artistic and theoretical practice. Winning in the Theorist category includes:
• A scholarly essay in the accompanying publication
• Collaboration and exchange with the Artist awardee
• €5,000 prize money

Applicants must be theorists, curators, and researchers working in the field of photography and lens-based media aged 18–35 whose focus is within the field photography or other lens-based media and particularly, body politics.

New York doesn’t pose, it lives. UNFILTERED invites photographers to capture the city as it is felt, not staged. This call is about presence over perfection, and storytelling rooted in authenticity.

: The C/O Berlin Talent Award 2026 open call is now live.

Celebrating 20 years of supporting emerging talent, C/O Berlin introduces a new annual theme, “Body Politics.” The theme explores the body as a site of power, resistance, identity, and memory, and asks how photography and lens-based media can make these tensions visible and open to reflection.

The award honors both artistic and theoretical practice. The Artist award includes a solo exhibition at C/O Berlin, an accompanying publication by Spector Books featuring an essay by the Theorist awardee, and €5,000 in prize money.

Applicants must be emerging photographers aged 18 to 35 working with photography or other lens-based media. Submitted projects must not have previously been presented in a solo exhibition at a major European institution or published as a monograph.
