The biggest mistake with the Digital Product Passport?

Many see it as a new reporting tool.
In reality, it is a data architecture challenge.

A DPP only works when product data is:
- structured
- complete
- up to date
- available across systems

Because the DPP brings together information from across the value chain from materials and compliance data to repair and end-of-life information. That is why it depends on connected, lifecycle-wide product data rather than isolated files or one-time reporting.

That is also why spreadsheets, disconnected systems, and manual processes do not scale.

The real success factor is integration:
PLM + PIM + RIM as part of one digital thread.
Internal material describes PIM as the consistent, versioned product-data backbone and positions it as the basis for connected RIM, DPP, workflows, traceability, and audit trail.

The question is not whether DPP is coming.
It is: Are your systems ready for it?

5 signs your EUDAMED registration is becoming risky:

Bis spätestens 28. November 2026 müssen Hersteller ihre
👉 Legacy Devices
👉 MDR- und IVDR-Produkte mit CE-Kennzeichnung vor dem 28. Mai 2026 in EUDAMED registrieren.

Was dabei oft unterschätzt wird:
• Die exakte Anzahl der zu registrierenden Produkte ist vielfach unklar
• Über 500.000 Medizinprodukte & IVDs sind aktuell im EU-Markt
• Jede Variante benötigt vollständige, konsistente und strukturierte Daten
• Gegen Ende der Übergangsfrist drohen Engpässe bei EUDAMED-Zugriff und Ressourcen

Aus unserer Erfahrung heißt das ganz klar:
EUDAMED ist kein reines Registrierungsprojekt.
