Together with our partner tinyhouse.lv, we’ve finished the Smart Tiny House demo house and showed off its smart features at our demo event.

What our visitors loved the most
— Smart ventilation: fresh air in every room, even the wardrobe.
— Smart heating: comfort you can control from anywhere, with real energy savings
— One app for everything: simple control of the whole home

With that, we’re wrapping up the “Smart Tiny House” project. A big thank you to everyone who came to the event and shared their feedback, and to Tinyhouse.lv for being the best partner we could have asked for.

We’re excited to see where this collaboration and our project learnings take us from here!

For the past few months, we’ve been diving deep into smart technology and smart homes, sharing our journey and key takeaways along the way. But what do we actually gain from smart living? Here are some of the ways smart technology can make tiny house living more comfortable, sustainable and effortless.

A cacophony of ideas from sauna rituals to AI misuse to a marketplace for odd jobs by homeless people swirled around Gallery Night.

Exactly what we love to see when facilitating a design thinking workshop. We gave people the freedom to think freely, and they synthesised ideas ranging from conservative to crazy to outright bizarre. Luckily, Mana Kaasik was there to capture some of that creative chaos in pixels.

Our demo smart tiny house is almost ready! 🏠

Together with Tinyhouse.lv, we’re currently in the final stages of integrating all the devices into the house and connecting the wiring to make sure everything works seamlessly. We’ve been visiting our partner to help with the installation and test the different functions on-site, while they’re also putting the finishing touches on the interior and furniture.

Meanwhile, at Mobi Lab, we’ve been developing the software that allows the smart tiny house to be controlled remotely from a mobile device or directly from the wall-mounted display inside the house.

Soon, our smart tiny house will be fully functioning and we’re looking forward to showcasing it at our demo event this October! 🚀

What do users really want from a smart tiny house experience?

Through interviews with tiny house owners, we gained insight into how tiny houses are used in everyday life, the challenges users encounter and how smart technology could better support them.

We also explored which smart home features are currently used in smart apartments and what that experience is like. The insights we gathered are shaping smart tiny house experiences that prioritise simplicity, reliability, and meaningful functionality.

Exciting progress is happening in our Smart Tiny House project 🏠💡.

While our partner in Tinyhouse.lv has been working on the cabling and wiring of the demo house, our team in Tartu has been focused on something as important, building a dedicated hardware and software laboratory for smart home development.

Before any smart technology reaches the tiny house, every device is thoroughly tested, programmed, and validated in our lab. This allows us to ensure that all systems work seamlessly before installation begins.

Once testing and programming are complete, the pre-configured hardware kits are shipped to the manufacturing workshop in Latvia, where they are installed in the house.

This approach reduces on-site errors, speeds up installation, simplifies future maintenance, and helps ensure that the smart tiny house performs exactly as intended.

Step by step, we're turning the vision of an intelligent, energy-efficient tiny house into reality.

Smart Tiny House: Cross-Border Innovation in Action!

We recently hosted our Estonian partners from Mobi Lab Mobi Lab right here in Latvia for our 2nd face-to-face meeting! It was an intensive and productive two days dedicated to pushing the boundaries of sustainable, smart living.

📍 Highlights from the Visit:

🏚️Demo House Inspection: We gathered at tinyhouse.lv to tour the property and the demo house. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the physical progress of our pilot site.

⚒️Smart Integration: Hands-on sessions led by Martin and Veiko focused on cable application for smart house functionality, ensuring our tiny houses are as intelligent as they are efficient.

🖊️Strategic Alignment: We reviewed the progress of every work package, ensuring our joint Estonian-Latvian efforts are perfectly synced to deliver standardized, integrated smart home packages.

A big thank you to both teams for the energy and expertise brought to the table! 🙌

Project: EE-LV00202 "Standardised integrated smart house packages" (Smart Tiny House)
