We are a group of engineering students from different universities and different specializations. We have different experiences in several fields, but we share the same interest, which is Robotics and specially ROV. We formed a team named Atlantis; this team is the seed of a larger future company to manufacture ROVs. Our first challenge is to win in the “ROV Egypt Regional Competition”, to be able
to participate in the International MATE ROV competition and win there. ROV stands for remotely operated underwater vehicle ROVs are unoccupied, highly maneuverable and operated by a person aboard a vessel. It is a tethered underwater vehicle, which are common in deep-water industries
ROVs are used for many purposes across many industries that operate underwater. ROVs can perform many specialized tasks in industries such as oil and gas, commercial shipping, salvage, ship husbandry, potable water, ocean engineering, video production, scientific research and others. What is the international MATE ROV competition? The MATE Center coordinates an international student underwater robotics ROV competition and a network of regional ROV contests that take place across many countries. The MATE competition challenges community college, and university students from all over the world to design and build ROVs to tackle missions modeled after scenarios from the ocean workplace. The competition’s class structure of beginner, intermediate, and advanced complements the education pipeline by providing students with the opportunity to build upon their skills – and the application of those skills – as they engineer increasingly more complex ROVs for increasingly more complex mission tasks. The competition consists of three different "classes" that vary depending on the sophistication of the ROVs and the mission requirements. The competition in brief is to design and build underwater robots to tackle mission tasks based on the real world missions. Our Staff

Ahmed is a student in the 1st year, Electrical department, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. He is interested in science from his childhood. He participated in many national and international science fairs. He participated in Intel International science and engineering fair in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He also participated in International Environmental project Olympiad (INEPO) in Istanbul, Turkey and won the Silver Medal (World’s Second Place). He participated in the "Euro-Mediterranean Innovation Marketplace" and won "The best Young Inventor Award" from the "World Intellectual Property Organization (WEPO). He also issued an Egyptian patent No 25758 for his invention. Ahmed is also interested in science communication as he participated in the “Fame Lab competition” and won the award of participating in London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF) in London, United Kingdom. Ahmed also joined an internship in Dare to Dream project in Changsha, Mainland of China. He worked as a soft skills teacher at two schools there. Ahmed also was a speaker in several seminars as TEDxTanta and EURKA (an event organized by IEEE). Hossam Khamis (Head of electronics and programming department):
Hossam is a student in the 3rd semester in the department of Computer and Communications, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. He passed the first two terms with a total GPA of 3.72. Hossam is interested in programming and electronics; he thinks that this is his lifetime career. That’s why he had a lot of courses in C/C++ programming languages and AVR microcontrollers. Hossam also is a self-learner as the PHP programming languages alone; he also learned some computer programs as 3Ds Max, Maya, AutoCAD, Photoshop and MYSQL. In addition to these courses, he made many electronics projects, which he had made by his own to apply what he learned and to satisfy his curiosity in this field. Hossam also was an organizer in Bio vision Alexandria from in 2008 and Barley Genetics Symposium (IBGS) in Alexandria in 2008. Mazen Wael (Head of mechanical department);
Mazen is studying Mechatronics at the Faculty of Engineering and Materials Science, German University in Cairo (G.U.C). Mazen loves electronics and mechanics (especially robotics) from his childhood, that’s why he joined many courses to improve his talents in these fields. He took different kinds of courses in Hardware, Software. He also had a training course in Mercedes regarding these fields. Mazen specialized in Mechatronics as it is the nearest thing to the Robotics world, which he looked forward to be his field after graduation and That’s why he joined our team.
