To serve Egypt and the MENA business needs, SDS AND DataScience signed a contract to develop an On-Prim and Cloud Based Carbon Footprint Digital tool by using Big Data and Data Analytics Techniques.

The tool will empower all business sectors with the required knowledge, skills, and data to; measure, manage, benchmark, and mitigate their GHG emissions relying on internationally accredited frameworks and methodologies.

In 2015, Egypt released approximately 325.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. 64.5% of the total emissions for 2015 were due to Energy Sector activities. These activities are majorly attributed to fuel combustion activities found in (1) energy industries, (3) manufacturing industries (3) transportation and fugitive emissions from oil and natural gas.

The water-food-energy nexus is probably the most debated type of nexus regarding climate change implications but did you know there is another grave nexus between climate change and health care?

According to WHO, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250 000 additional deaths per year between 2030 and 2050. At the same time, while health care's purpose is to cure us, it is impacting the environment. It is responsible for almost 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions that is a carbon footprint equivalent to 514 coal-fired power plants. So, as the burden of disease increases, more pressure on health systems and pharmaceutical companies, and more environmental impacts worsen global health - a nexus.
