Did you know that, according to Forbes, there are 4 main types of phishing attacks?
Clickbait. Sensationalist or attention-grabbing messages to get the click. In this case, a person in the company is sent an "urgent" email that needs an immediate response, all to get a click that, in turn, leads to a download or donation of sensitive information.
Urgent Response. Phishing, also known as "CEO fraud", involves the cybercriminal posing as a senior company official in order to get sensitive information out of the hand of an employee. To do this, they use an urgent need, so that the target person reacts quickly without a second thought. This method is used to get a malicious file downloaded or payments authorised.
Personalised contact. In this case, cybercriminals take their time to research a particular victim, who is usually selected based on the information he or she shares online. So-called social engineering allows a cybercriminal to learn details about a person through their social networks, making it easier for them to trick them through a phishing attack.
Hidden in the routine. In this type of fraud, they impersonate a human resources manager in order to sign a new contract or agreement. There are also cases of impersonation of company IT profiles, inviting us to sign or accept an agreement; in short, something that we do not analyse and that we automatically accept or sign.
