Did you know that network jitter/packet delay variation (PDV) is an important variable in network-based transport?

PDV depends on factors like:
• Individual switch performance
• Packet routing
• Dynamically changing traffic situation on individual links

You can find out how these factors can impact network latency in Andreas Hildebrand’s White Paper - “Your flight will be delayed by 5 ms” Understanding Latency in AoIP Systems 📝

🚨PYRAMIX 16 IS HERE🚨

We are proud to release the newest major upgrade to our world-renowned DAW.

Pyramix 16 brings new features, such as the completely revisited and enhanced PanNoir now integrated into the mixer.

Developed in collaboration with acclaimed Recording Engineer and Producer, Jean-Daniel Noir, PanNoir fundamentally rethinks how spot microphones blend with a main stereo pair.

Traditional DAWs rely entirely on level differences when panning spot mics, but this results in problems such as phase issues and compromised stereo imaging.

PanNoir solves this ✅

It introduces both level AND time of arrival differences. This respects how sound reaches the main stereo microphone pair without interference, and how human hearing works all together! 🙌

Additionally, Pyramix 16 brings a Built-in Dolby Atmos Renderer, enhanced performance, increased I/O capacities, and Parallels® Desktop support for macOS.

You can find out more about all the features and more here ➡️ https://newsroom.neumann.com/merging-technologies-announces-pyramix-16-doalga

Rack 'em up! 🃏

Those heading to NAB Show, Las Vegas, will be treated to a mystery new inclusion on the RAVENNA Rack 👀

The RAVENNA Rack is a beautiful symphony of synchronous operation, made possible with RAVENNA / AES67 serving as the backbone.

It brings together multiple devices from our RAVENNA Partners, making for a spectacular and versatile demonstration suite!

Want to find out what the new device is?

You'll have to drop by the booth 😉

Demystifying Discovery
Part 1: AES67, SIP & Discovery Mechanisms

Discovery is often implemented as an alternative to SIP - but what does that actually mean? 📶

For two networked devices to exchange audio, they need:
Address 🤝 Connection Method

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) manages unicast connections. Two end points must know each other’s address and agree on how to communicate.

Addresses can be entered manually or via a SIP server, which acts like a network phone book 📞

On the other hand, discovery mechanisms automatically find and identify endpoints on the network.

Bonjour: a flexible, powerful mechanism for advertisement.

SAP (Session Announcement Protocol): Purpose-built for announcing available multicast session information only.

Swipe through our carousel to see how SIP, Bonjour, and SAP support interoperability in AES67 ➡️

One of the more common network topologies is the “spine-leaf” topology.

A spine-leaf topology can accommodate a large number of devices and traffic flows, provides good redundancy and is thus typically found in data centers or larger corporate environments.

The maximum number of hops is typically limited to 2 times the number of topology layers.

Introducing 10 Things You Didn’t Know About RAVENNA - starting with the reason it exists at all.

RAVENNA was developed because…

When the broadcast industry needed an AoIP protocol that could deliver performance, existing solutions just couldn’t keep up 📡

So RAVENNA was developed - engineered for the demands of the broadcast industry.

With the highest performance characteristics of any AoIP solution today, RAVENNA remains the most viable solution for broadcast applications 💪

SMPTE ST 2110 was designed to push professional media transport into a new era 🚀

Let’s break it down.

SMPTE ST 2110 reshaped how we move media over IP - not by adding more complexity, but by providing control.

Engineers needed more than a single bundled stream. They needed precise control over video, audio, and essence data across the entire network.

That’s exactly what SMPTE ST 2110 delivers 🎯

Instead of transporting everything as one stream, ST 2110 uses the IEEE 1588 PTP to transport all essence data as individually routed streams.

The result?
Cleaner routing.
Lower bandwidth overhead.
Less hardware required for de-embedding.

Swipe through our carousel to understand why ST 2110 became the industry’s go-to for flexible, high-performance IP infrastructures.

🔖 Save this for later and keep it in your toolkit.
