OWN eSIM and HONOR Arabia are exploring how travel connectivity can become part of the device experience itself. Not something travelers need to arrange later, but a solution that is already close at hand when the journey begins.

For travelers, this means fewer barriers when getting online abroad.
For partners, it shows how eSIM can become a stronger part of digital distribution, device integration and the customer journey.

This collaboration marks an important step for OWN eSIM and our mission to make borderless connectivity available wherever the journey starts.

Our first time at TravDay for OWN eSIM.

While our team was spread across the world, we were also present in the Netherlands. Our COO & CTO are in China for a trade mission, our CEO had to leave China midway for an important event in Dubai, and our team at TravDay was strengthened by Shannen from , our PR partner.

This is what it is all about: an international product, built by an international team. Always moving, always connected, and always focused on making travel simpler and smarter.

Day 1 & 2 – BID China Trade Mission 🇨🇳

The management team from OWN eSIM, including Martijn van der Ven (CEO), Frank Heijtlager (COO), and Olav Witvliet (CTO), flew from Amsterdam to Shanghai, where the program kicked off with a business lunch at the Oriental Pearl Tower, connecting with fellow delegates and local business relations.

From there, we continued on to Taicang and Hangzhou. A dynamic 48 hours, arriving early in the morning and moving straight into a full program.

Day 1 started with a welcome lunch, followed by the Big Improvement Day (BID) Conference. We met a wide group of Chinese founders, investors, and platform players, including Ge Jun.

During the conference, OWN eSIM was presented on stage as part of the program.

The rest of the day and evening focused on conversations and networking with other attendees.

Day 2 began early with a series of meetings and sessions, followed by a large-scale conference in the afternoon with thousands of participants. The day ended with more networking and informal conversations during the dinner program.

The BID Trade Mission 2026 dinner at Kasteel de Wittenburg – including the official mission briefing and session on Chinese business etiquette – was not only inspiring, it immediately showed the quality of the delegation brought together under the leadership of Ralph van Hessen and Chunmei Maja Sun. The briefing provided a clear, structured overview of all key elements of the mission and what is needed to achieve high‑quality matchmaking in China.

Being invited by TOJOY Holding Group, China’s largest privately held entrepreneur platform, which connects more than 6 million entrepreneurs and millions of established regional enterprises, is a top‑level opportunity in itself. The personal involvement of BID founder Ralph van Hessen and TOJOY Chairman and CEO Jun Ge underlines the strategic importance of this mission.

For OWNeSIM, this trade mission is a chance to learn, connect, trade and innovate on its OWN platform by engaging directly with the world’s largest growth market in Asia and, in particular, China. Our Signal will become our Story as we explore partnerships, distribution and innovation opportunities on the ground.

OWNeSIM will be represented by its management team: Founder & CEO Martijn van der Ven and COO Frank Heijtlager will both attend this first BID Trade Mission 2026. For us, that’s not just a big step – that’s a BIG BID.

A week after MWC Barcelona, it still feels like we just got back.

MWC 2026 had real energy again. After a few years where it sometimes felt a bit repetitive, this edition brought back momentum and urgency.

What stood out in conversations across halls and meetings: eSIM is shifting from “a SIM” to a digital distribution layer, AI is becoming practical across network operations, and connectivity is heading toward an “always-on” future, with satellite expected to become a fallback layer when mobile coverage isn’t available.

We came home with fresh ideas, strong conversations, and a lot of follow-ups we’re turning into action.

Day 1 is a wrap.

We kicked things off Sunday night with the NL@MWC delegation kickoff by the beach. Great energy, easy conversations, and a strong start to getting to know the Dutch delegation before the week really began.

Monday was full speed. We visited a bunch of interesting companies, picked up fresh ideas, and met a lot of people along the way. You can feel it everywhere here: everyone’s building toward the next step in connectivity and how to make it faster, smarter, and more reliable.

We wrapped up with the official opening at the Dutch Pavilion, and then came back together for NL@MWC Community Night at the Barcelona Harbour. Beautiful location, relaxed vibe, and the kind of networking that turns into real follow ups. Met a lot of new faces and had genuinely good chats.

Today is our last day, and we’re going through the final two halls. Then we truly will have seen everything!
