International Workers Day

International Workers' Day or May Day is the commemoration of the world labor movement.
The events that gave rise to this celebration are contextualized at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution in the United States (at the end of the 20th century). The struggle to achieve the eight-hour workday is the origin of this holiday, in honor of the working class and the so-called Chicago Martyrs, a group of trade unionists executed in 1886, and which is present in almost every country in the world.
This Friday, May 1, International Labor Day is celebrated. A holiday that this year will be very different in Spain and much of the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has left more than 200,000 deaths worldwide. Confinement will prevent mass marches in major cities and, for the first time in history, will take place from our homes.
At QUANT AI Lab we want to place special emphasis on the important role that health workers and essential services workers are playing during the health crisis and, for the first time, we encourage this May 1 to serve to show our appreciation to all people who have made this pandemic less tragic.
We wish all workers in the world to rest with their families and celebrate it differently.

One of the issues that concerns us today and that is impacting us worldwide is the corona virus.

Seeing the situation that is being lived right now in Spain and living it from our small laboratory QUANT AI Lab, we consider that this is where Artificial Intelligence can enter and thus provide solutions applicable to real life. Among them, it helps diagnose more effectively and at a shorter time if a particular person is affected by this virus, avoiding one of the biggest problems of COVID-19.
Applying this theory to real cases of use is really difficult due to a high complexity of development, therefore, we want to congratulate from the QUANT AI Lab team to the great Alibaba team that has created an Artificial Intelligence capable of detecting the virus crown with a 96% accuracy in seconds.

Due to the recent recommendations from Madrid goverment, QUANT AI Lab has decided to start working from home starting today (tueday).

A technology company like ours will allow telecommuting whenever it is better for employees and in this case for the client.

A regenerative peripheral nerve interface allows real-time control of an artificial hand in upper limb amputees

Neuroprosthetic devices providing tactile feedback sensation have been recently developed. Electrodes stimulating peripheral nerves have been shown to provide patients with the sense of touch and pressure when using upper limb prosthesis. Moreover, targeted muscle innervation can provide prosthesis control. However, the number of independent movements is still limited. Now, Vu et al. showed that regenerative peripheral nerve interfaces (RPNIs) implanted in upper limb amputees allowed the control of finger movements using hand prosthesis for almost a year without the need for adjustments. The results suggest that RNPIs could provide a stable and improved upper limb prosthesis control.

Abstract
Peripheral nerves provide a promising source of motor control signals for neuroprosthetic devices. Unfortunately, the clinical utility of current peripheral nerve interfaces is limited by signal amplitude and stability. Here, we showed that the regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI) serves as a biologically stable bioamplifier of efferent motor action potentials with long-term stability in upper limb amputees. Ultrasound assessments of RPNIs revealed prominent contractions during phantom finger flexion, confirming functional reinnervation of the RPNIs in two patients. The RPNIs in two additional patients produced electromyography signals with large signal-to-noise ratios. Using these RPNI signals, subjects successfully controlled a hand prosthesis in real-time up to 300 days without control algorithm recalibration. RPNIs show potential in enhancing prosthesis control for people with upper limb loss.
