Ethiopia just changed the cybersecurity game. 🔐
On July 21, 2026, Ethiopia passed Proclamation No. 1426/2026 — a new law requiring organizations in critical sectors to significantly upgrade their cybersecurity.
Who's affected?
ICT, Finance, Health, Transport, Education, Energy, and 6 other critical sectors. If your organization operates in any of these — this law applies to you.
What's required?
➡️ Report cyber incidents to National CERT within 48 hours
➡️ Hire certified cybersecurity professionals
➡️ Set up Security Operations Centers (SOCs)
➡️ Conduct regular risk assessments and audits
What happens if you don't comply?
⚠️ 500K – 1M Birr for late framework implementation
⚠️ 1.5M – 2M Birr for failure to report incidents within 48 hours
⚠️ Up to 10 years in prison for intentional violations that cause harm
The good news?
You have until July 2027 to get ready. But one year moves fast — and the organizations that start now will be the ones who comply without panic.
At eTech S.C, we help organizations in every affected sector meet exactly these requirements — cybersecurity audits, risk assessments, certified professionals, and SOC setup.
The law is here. The clock is ticking. ⏰
