Hi everyone,

If you’ve recently finished a manuscript, you already know how exhausting the next steps can be.

After months, sometimes years of writing, rewriting, and perfecting your story, you're suddenly faced with an entirely different challenge:

Publishing your book professionally.

And yes, it absolutely is frustrating sometimes

Figuring out how to properly format the book, trying to design a cover that actually fits the market, and finding a trustworthy editor can take months and usually costs hundreds, and sometimes even thousands of money out of pocket.

Unfortunately, it feels incredibly unfair that so many great stories never get read simply because the upfront costs of publishing are so high.

That realization is exactly what led us to this idea:

Starting today, Tungkuok Publishers will offer opportunities to talented writers by partnering with them and helping them with all the publishing services.

How it's going to work:

We already have the professional skills to edit, format, and design books to industry standards, along with the publishing setup needed to distribute them globally through platforms like Amazon, and physical distribution (printed locally).

So, instead of charging authors upfront for these services, we will work as your independent publishing partner.

What does "independent publishing" actually mean for you?

Simply put, it means we become business partners.

You never lose ownership of your book. You keep 100% of your copyright. Instead, you grant us an exclusive license to professionally design, distribute, and sell your book for a specified period of time (typically a few months or years), based on our agreement.

Think of it as a team-up:

You supply brilliant storytelling, and we supply efficient production, publishing, printing support, and distribution.

Here’s how:

We handle the entire production side: editing, custom cover design, formatting, and interior layout at zero upfront cost to you. We invest my time, skills, and resources into your book, and once it goes live for digital distribution and/or local printing, we split the net profits 50/50 or any other way we can agree upon.

Because everything is processed through our publishing system and distribution accounts, the royalties and earnings are managed professionally, and we pay you your agreed share on a regular schedule.

Most importantly, if the book doesn’t sell, you don’t owe us a dime.

We take on the risk because we believe good stories deserve a real chance to reach readers. And if our contract ever ends, all publishing rights return fully to you.

They don’t see the whole creation and the 1000 tiny adjustments behind it.

The eye strain, the random “nah this still ain’t it” moments, or the times you almost close everything and call it a day😭

But honestly, that’s the process, and that’s what makes you a designer.

Today, after long campus days, I spent around 7 hours working on this cover alone.

Tweaking things. Moving text 1 pixel left and right like my whole creation depends on it. Changing colours. Undoing things just to redo them again.

There were moments I thought, “Maybe I’m doing too much.”
But I kept refining it anyway.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, I realized I’ve actually grown.

Because this doesn’t feel anything like the kind of designs I used to make when I first started. Back then, I just wanted things to look “cool.” Now I think more about feeling, balance, audience, readability, and whether the design actually belongs in the market.

That growth didn’t happen overnight, though. It came from frustration, experimenting, failing, learning, and spending hours trying to understand why some designs instantly connect with people while others don’t.

Especially with this Ethiopian Green Legacy project, I wanted it to feel meaningful, not just beautiful. Something clean, powerful, and alive.

Still got a few final spots to polish like spacing, typography balance, colour harmony, alignment, readability, and emotional feel.

Because funny enough, that last 5% is usually where the magic will happen.

Anyway, I liked this one and I believe it was worth every hour.

And to anyone working on something behind the scenes right now, keep going. One rough draft, one long night, one small improvement at a time. Because, sooner or later, all those invisible hours will start showing in your work.

It came from observation, from reflection, from the heaviness I see around us:

We don’t just live life.
We carry it.

That’s what this book is about: The Weight We Carry.

The man holding the world on his shoulders is not just a figure.

He is all of us. He is the student trying to survive pressure. He is the parent who hides exhaustion behind a smile. He is the dreamer who refuses to quit even when everything feels heavier than hope.

This book may not be ready for you to read. Maybe not now, maybe not anytime soon. But its message is already alive:
