It's a wrap for Varjo's second Global XR Summit, hosted in Nashville this week. Over 100 experts deploying Varjo hardware across defense, aviation, and simulation gathered for two days of speaker sessions, live simulation demos, and direct feedback on what they need from us next.

Synthetic training is no longer a nice-to-have. Across conversations, our customers and partners showed what that looks like in practice: deployed solutions making operators safer, more effective, and returning measurable value.

We were glad to welcome Sakari Puisto, Finland's Minister of Economic Affairs, to our Helsinki headquarters last week.

The Minister and his special advisors took the controls of an F/A-18 flight simulator, a C-UAS simulator, and a tactical combat and emergency care simulation platform — the same technology our customers use to train pilots, operators, and medics worldwide. The VR/XR technology powering these simulations is designed and engineered right here.

People Occlusion arrived as a beta feature in Varjo Base 4.16, using real-time AI object recognition to detect people in the passthrough feed and composite them into the simulation.

For crew training, instructor-led sessions and any scenario where a trainee needs to see a real teammate, that's one less thing standing between the simulation and the task.
