The Royal Air Force has upgraded 11 training devices at RAF Valley with advanced mixed reality simulator systems. The program is forecast to produce approximately two additional combat-ready pilots reaching frontline squadrons each year, with associated savings of up to £4 million annually in outsourced training costs: the result of lower dropout rates, fewer refly hours, and student pilots who arrive at every sortie better prepared.

Varjo has expanded its support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the delivery of an XR counter-drone simulator, the latest in a series of immersive training systems now operating in-country.

Alongside the Horizon Guardian C-UAS Shotgun Simulator from Applied Virtual Simulation, Varjo's XR training footprint in Ukraine includes 39 land vehicle systems delivered with Fynd Reality through Norway's Nansen Program, and F-16 cockpit simulators developed with Dogfight Boss.

Exciting news: Loft Dynamics' Varjo-powered VR flight simulator has received FTD Level 7 qualification from Japan's Civil Aviation Bureau, the third major aviation authority to qualify their platform, alongside the FAA and EASA.

With this certification, Nakanihon Air in Japan has integrated the Airbus H125 TXi simulator into its pilot training program. Congratulations to the Loft Dynamics team on a significant milestone.

The Finnish Parliament's Committee for the Future gathered this week to explore how 100 radical technologies will transform society by 2045. Varjo was among the Finnish companies invited to pitch, and event participants had the opportunity to experience counter-drone training in mixed reality first-hand.
