Many of these groups have experienced discrimination and even outright oppression at different points in history. Today, the rights of the most visible minorities, such as gender and sexual minorities, serve as a canary in the coal mine. Upholding them helps protect other minorities as well, while undermining them lowers the threshold for restricting the rights and opportunities of other, more or less clearly defined groups.

👩‍⚕️ What if health data could be used more easily in health care and research without compromising safety?

That’s exactly what the EU’s EHDS Regulation is driving, and now Finland is taking a major step forward. A joint project by wellbeing services counties has received €4.6M in funding from Business Finland.

On Friday we gathered in Kamppi for Openfun’s summer get-together. 😎🍧 The place was full and people clearly enjoyed themselves. Good company, relaxed conversations and a shared moment to kick off the summer before the holiday season.

Openfun is one example of Digia’s Openclubs. These hobby communities are built around what people enjoy, from coffee and sports to culture and beyond. Sometimes the most valuable thing is to pause, connect and enjoy the moment together.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈💚 Equality is a core value at Digia, and we actively work to build a more inclusive workplace. As part of this, we regularly organise LGBTQ++ afterworks. Our Software developer Lotta shares her thoughts:

"When I joined Digia in autumn 2023, the LGBTQ++ afterwork was already held at the end of my second week. I hadn’t intentionally been ‘in the closet’ before either, but I did consciously watch what I said, for example when talking about my holidays and found myself sitting uncomfortably listening to colleagues discussing ‘those sexual minorities’ at a social event, not daring to point out that I was one of ‘them’.

I hadn’t even realized how much mental bandwidth that kind of minority stress was taking, until during those afterworks I was able to be completely relaxed and just myself, even with colleagues around. It felt like I’m allowed to be myself and that I’m not alone."
