Make any Android a Solu Computer

As a special Christmas gift to all those people who have been supporting us over the last couple of years, we wanted to create something for both those with Solu devices, and those who don't yet have a Solu.

We have, in our labs, been working on an app version of the Solu environment. That means you can now share and collaborate with your friends, all within the Solu environment.

Yes, that means your Android phone or tablet can run Solu. You can even connect an external screen (wired or wireless) and make your Android into a desktop computer. There are a few limitations compared to a full Solu OS, but the special zoomable UI, the screen touchpad, the Solu caching cloud and Solu apps will all be available in the app, allowing you to work with anyone in the Solusphere.

Feel free to spread the URL, but note that this will be an early build, and intended, for now, only for early adopters, developers and tech enthusiasts. However, as it is an app, your device will be safe.

National broadcaster Yleisradio covers the launch of a brand new Finnish Windows PC, Eve. Talks about a possible new dawn of Finnish computing hardware, and compares to what we are doing. Worth remembering, of course, that in the Solu world the OS is what makes it truly special.

So we missed the deadline for the last update in all the excitement (downside of a small team, that is mostly focused on engineering tasks)
During our absence, Solu was featured as one of the hottest startups in Helsinki in Wired! - http://www.wired.co.uk/article/european-startups-2016-helsinki
A bit less prestigious, perhaps, we were selected as one of the startups to take part in AaltoES's Startup Crawl (https://www.facebook.com/events/966390733470877/), where we had 4 groups of excited fresh faced students come and visit us one Friday evening to learn the ins and outs of startup life, and to experience Solu for themselves.

We had to pause shipping for a moment as we found a small issue with the hardware which we had to fix, related to attachment of the display. All sorted now and shipping has resumed.
At least we know our support email system is working.

In travel news, we held a slightly impromptu London meet-up, and Kristoffer was once again in the USA, this time with Slush as part of their Nordic Innovators tour. Solu had the honour of being invited on board with a select number of top notch Nordic tech companies. While there we created history by opening the NASDAQ.
We shared the spotlight here with another great company, Play DXTR, who is creating smart building blocks for kids—like a cool, evolved version of another Danish block company you might have heard of ..

Exactly one year ago Solu was launched in San Francisco. It was a truly special moment for the whole team, at a beautiful venue and with our significant others at our side. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey, through both the ups and the downs.

We exist because of you.

Today it's worth watching the opening of the NASDAQ. Solu, amongst a select number of other top Nordic tech companies, will be opening it live at 13:30 GMT!

Back in June we told you we were getting ready to deliver the Early Delivery units (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/676993694/solu-a-new-breed-of-computing/posts/1609159) and for the past few weeks we have been performing a number of un-boxing experience experiments. We have learnt a lot from these, and decided we had got to a stage where we need to get feedback from someone outside the team and who could look at it with a fresh pair of eyes. The lucky "volunteer" chosen was our first investor, who had also purchased one of these early delivery units. In the photo you can see him about to start the test.

Apart from making him happy, we confirmed that the physical un-boxing experience was mostly complete. We also confirmed that there are still a few open challenges on the software side, and he kindly gave us some feedback on the priority order.

In other news, our CEO, Kristoffer, is currently in Silicon Valley to meet with and update partners and investors ( both new, potential ones and existing ).

Production has started on the first batch of actual Solu devices. These devices are for the early delivery backers.
