Did you know Saft has had a factory in the Czech Republic for more than 30 years? 🇨🇿

Located in the heart of Moravia, our Raškovice site brings together the Industry, Mobility & Infrastructure and Connected Smart Energy divisions. Nearly 300 employees design and manufacture nickel-cadmium and lithium-ion battery systems for rail, data centers, offshore platforms and industrial vehicles, as well as battery packs
for IoT, metering, and many applications in connected cities. ⚡🔋

Since 2016, Raškovice has been a center of excellence for lithium-ion chemistry for rail applications, and the site will play a key role in shaping the future of rail mobility.

For the final stop of our “Batteries in the Four Corners of the World” series, we’re leaving Earth behind. 🚀

This last edition looks up to space, where energy storage operates in the most extreme conditions imaginable: zero margin for error, brutal temperatures, and missions that last decades.

From early satellites to today’s lithium ion technology, this episode explores how batteries quietly keep space missions alive, reliable and efficient.

And in 2026, we’re celebrating a symbolic milestone: 60 years of Saft batteries in space. 🌌🔋

Start of Saft’s Safety Week! 🦺🌍

As part of Saft’s global annual Safety Week, we are proud to highlight our Nersac site in France, where highly critical lithium-ion cells are manufactured for demanding applications such as satellites and transportation.

🤝In these industrial environments, safety is essential at every stage, from production to daily operations. Yesterday, the site welcomed Cedric Duclos, CEO of Saft, and Laurent Vivier, Senior Vice President Power Trading at TotalEnergies, who came to meet our teams and discuss our strong safety culture.

Throughout the week, Safety Week is taking place across all Saft sites worldwide, with hands-on workshops and training sessions focused on workplace risks, fire safety, and first aid. These initiatives reflect a shared ambition: protecting our people and empowering everyone to act for safety, every day.

Safety is a core value for both Saft and TotalEnergies, and we are proud to support our teams with concrete actions that help ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all. Safety for you, for me, for all! ✅

🎉 In 2026, we’re celebrating a special birthday for Saft: 60 years of space history.

Back in February 1966, Saft powered Diapason 1A, one of France’s first fully operational satellites. The mission was initially planned for two years, and it ultimately lasted six.

Since then, we’ve never stopped. From nickel-cadmium to lithium-ion, from low Earth orbit to deep space, Saft batteries have been the trusted energy source behind some of the most demanding missions ever flown:

• The W3A telecom satellite, which ran for 22 years in geostationary orbit with less than 3% capacity loss.
• The SOHO solar observatory, which has been observing the Sun for over 30 years.
• And in 2014, the Rosetta mission and its Philae lander: the first ever to land on a comet, 500 million kilometers from Earth.
In space, there are no second chances, and no repair crews. That’s why many of the world’s most critical missions run on Saft.

Here’s to 60 years of energy that never fails, and to the missions still to come. 🔋

⚡In New Zealand, Saft and Genesis are entering the next phase of the Huntly Battery Energy Storage System, with a 200 MWh extension that will take the site toward 400 MWh of total capacity. 🇳🇿

Located at Huntly Power Station, one of New Zealand’s most strategic energy hubs, the expanded BESS will provide fast‑response capacity to balance supply and demand. It will help prevent grid stress during peak events, and reinforce security of supply across the country. 🔋

Building on the success of the first stage, this extension reinforces a trusted partnership and a long‑term commitment to a more resilient power system designed to reduce emissions, with commissioning planned for 2028.

For the second stop in our “Batteries in the Four Corners of the World” series, we’re heading deep into the Australian desert, at the Agnew Gold Mine in Western Australia. 🏜️

Extreme heat, remote location, and a clear ambition to reduce emissions: the challenge was set. Saft’s Li-ion BESS plays a key role in stabilizing a hybrid microgrid combining wind and solar, even when temperatures climb to 45°C.

By enabling high renewable pe*******on while maintaining grid stability, the Agnew project shows how energy storage can push the boundaries, and prove that innovation doesn’t stop, even at the edge of the world. 🌍🔋

Stay tuned for the next episode!
