A quick patch showing how Fascina, our dual complex VCA, can turn a simple oscillator into a pumping bassline in under two minutes.

Along the way this patch demonstrates several of Fascina’s core tricks:
• classic VCA duties
• the anti-click system for clean snappy envelopes
• ducking with the Ctrl input
• a touch of Drive for grit
• and the built-in dual-channel mixing normalization

Sometimes all it takes is a VCA doing a little more than expected. Give your jams and tracks the dynamics they deserve with Fascina.

Forgot to include the Preamp & Tremolo patch in Fascina’s manual.
Here it is — in the flesh. Manual is updated on the website. Link in bio.

Guitar straight into Fascina.
Drive cranked on channel I.
A slow triangular LFO for tremolo.
Second channel in series for extra saturation.
Light compression by routing Channel I Out to Channel II Ctrl.
Crypta handling the slapback delay.

This might become my future one-man band setup.
I’m triggering Rample with a kick drum pedal — and I’m really into it.

Maybe one day I’ll try using a metronome.
Sequencers have spoiled me for too long 🪕

Fascina is here! Our long awaited dual VCA / distortion / sidechainer / crossfader / ... is finally available.
We have uploaded a beta version of the manual on the website. You will find extract pages on this post.
The module is available direct from us - shipping next week - lots of assembly ahead. The usual retailers will follow shortly.
It has been two years since we showed it at Superbooth, two years to refine the whole circuit based on your inputs. Very proud of this little beast.

More unusual patches from the manual. Today Fascina as a Sample & Hold. Patch programming at its best.
The anti-click system in Fascina uses a Sample & Hold chip to do its thing. While we decided against the dedicated S&H output you can patch it easily.
Noise into CV in, clock into audio in, anti-click switch to the left and you get a sampled version of your noise at Fascina's output.
More details on this patch in the manual.

THE FACEPLATES ARE SUPPOSED TO LAND IN THE WORKSHOP TODAY. Exciting.

Another patch from the manual. Fascina as a voltage-controlled crossfader.
A slow triangular LFO is used to crossfade between two modulation sources, both routed to Hemera's main FM input.
One Fascina channel opens as the triangle rises, while the other one closes, creating a smooth transition between the two LFOs.

The patch takes advantage of Fascina's channel normalization, where Channel I is internally mixed into Chanel II when no output is taken from Channel I. This allows both VCAs to be summed and crossfaded in a single output.

The result is constantly evolving FM - drifting between modulators.

I got sidetracked while finishing Fascina's manual - Patch Ideas part takes tons of time.

If you curse the absence of dedicated Envelope Follower output - don't you worry. Patch a constant voltage in Fascina's input, send the audio you want to follow in the Ctrl input and voilà, a proper Envelope Follower CV at Fascina's output.

Do you read the manuals? Do you want me to turn each patch ideas in a video? Do you want patch notes for this specific patch?

PS : I had a mail from the faceplate manufacturer. Aaaaaand... no news again.

Fascina is in production. ETA mid January.
I love how it helps set the dynamics of a track right. You can plug any audio signal in its Control input and use it to duck or expand your VCA.
Here the generative acid line is ducked by the kick - crappy compressed Instagram audio may not do it justice.
Fascina can also be used a standard dual VCA through its CV inputs. It adds Drive and an anti click system to keep your bass lines tight. More demos soon.
Also Crypta and Diviser are back in stock on our website.

I'm out of the studio for the week to teach a week-long workshop about sound, electronics and interaction design at art school in Monaco.
The first step is to solder an exclusive circuit derived from our Crypta delay. Then each student will have to turn it into an instrument tailored to its art practice. Lots of fun and solder fumes ahead.
Direct orders will be sent on Monday - sorry for the delay - pun intended

Let me introduce to our lab cat.Ozzy - Chief of All Cardboard Boxes.
Eternal love to the OG, Salem, who left us a year ago.
