A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by!
The exhibition is on view until July 18 (and maybe even a little longer...). Come disturb us again!

Please Disturb presents a collection of door hangers accompanied by photographs recreating ordinary or unsettling scenes of the temporary stays of hotel guests.

For this project, Thomas Weil () teams up with , combining their shared obsession with collecting hotel hangers. These two multidisciplinary artists, both graphic designers, writers, and photographers, draw from archives built on treasures amassed by their respective fathers, both compulsive collectors.

Great people, great finds and great memories, again and again!

We were in good company at Offprint, just next to and our friends from .bleu. We visited Hato Press’ shop, a publishing house, studio, and Riso and screen printing workshop just next to the Barbican in London, the perfect place to stop by for a coffee and browse art books!

Our next adventure takes us across the ocean : in San Francisco and .artbookfair in Mexico!!! 📕📙📒📗📘

What if we looked inside the hotel room before it was made up again? 👀🏩✨

Just before everything disappears. An unmade bed, a forgotten object, a glass left behind. The images from Please Disturb replay these silent scenes, somewhere between the ordinary and the unsettling. Fragments of intimacy left behind closed doors.

« Last spring in Paris, Dutch illustrator Joost Stokhof rediscovered why he started drawing in the first place. Over five days, he filled 22 sheets of paper with drawings: the small, quiet details of the city most people walk straight past. The unposed moments, the traces of interaction, the feeling of a place rather than its landmarks. Without any plans for what to do with them, the work kept coming.

Each sheet held multiple drawings, made quickly, one next to the other. Back in Holland, he collaborated with Riso publisher TOSAM Press to turn these observations into a beautiful edition in which each small moment was granted its own page, a pocket-sized collection printed in three-color Riso. The book is called Ask for Directions to Get Lost, both a nod to how these days in Paris unfolded and an invitation to the reader to approach the city, or any city, the same way. Booker-nominated author Ali Smith wrote the foreword, placing these drawings within Paris’s long history as a city that pulls artists toward it. »

Please Disturb invites readers to discover a striking range of graphic forms representative of each establishment’s era, location, and status: front sides that guarantee the privacy of guests, and reverse sides that invite intrusion into that privacy in order to clean rooms and erase all traces of their fleeting presence.

Beyond a graphic collection, the book reveals imagined scenes that reconstruct traces of ordinary or unsettling intimacy: that of a family on vacation, an exhausted businesswoman, a retired man, and a group on tour.
