A major technical glitch causes a number of airports, media outlets, banks, and hospitals to stop
The world woke up this morning to a very major technical failure that caused the cessation of air traffic, some media outlets, banks, hospitals, and other industrial sectors in large parts of the world.
Thousands of Windows devices faced the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue today, affecting banks, airlines, TV channels, supermarkets and many other companies around the world.
According to some unconfirmed sources, the reason for this is due to an incorrect update from the cybersecurity provider CrowdStrike, which led to the shutdown of the affected computers and servers.
Banks, airlines and television channels in Australia were the first to report the problem after thousands of devices stopped working.
This problem is now spreading around the world, as the British Broadcasting Corporation (Sky News) announced that it is currently unable to broadcast its morning news bulletins, and displayed a message apologizing for the 'interruption of this broadcast'.
For its part, CrowdStrike said a short while ago: โWe have widespread reports of a blue screen of death on Windows host devices. The problem has been identified and we are working to solve it as soon as possible.โ
