Looking for a relaxed, friendly space to unwind, get creative, and meet new people? 🎨✨

We still have spaces available for our upcoming Creative Connections session in Stonehaven and would love to welcome you along 🥰

The session is completely free to attend and open to anyone looking to enjoy a few hours of creativity, conversation, and connection in a welcoming environment.

No experience needed and no pressure to take part in anything you do not want to. Activities include relaxed art and colouring, music and rhythm activities, storytelling, imagination games, and simple creative exercises designed to help people feel comfortable and connected.

At our recent Westhill session, people described the day as:

💬 “Lots of fun”

It was lovely to see people relaxing, laughing together, and enjoying a positive few hours in good company ❤️

A table full of colours, people chatting, trying things out, a bit of laughter, a bit of “I’m not sure about this”… and then getting stuck in anyway.

By the end of the session:
people are more relaxed, chatting more, and saying they’re glad they came.

You don’t need to be creative.
You don’t need to know anyone.
You don’t even need to stay the whole time.

We are looking for a new Chairperson.

Not the “turn up quietly to four meetings a year and nod at spreadsheets” kind.

We need someone who understands that charities still need to think strategically, grow sustainably, raise their profile, build partnerships, and sometimes make difficult decisions.

Basically… someone who gets that doing good work needs even better leadership.

We’d especially love to hear from people with skills or experience in areas like:

• Business or entrepreneurship
• Marketing, PR or social media
• Fundraising or business development
• Partnerships and networking
• Strategy, leadership or governance

You absolutely do not need to tick every box, but a few would be great.

We’re looking for someone with useful experience, fresh thinking, good judgement, strong relationships, and the confidence to challenge ideas when needed.

Most importantly, we want someone approachable, grounded, and passionate about communities.

Absafe delivers community safety, wellbeing, employability, youth leadership and resilience programmes across the North-East of Scotland, supporting diverse communities through practical, people-first work.

The role itself is pretty manageable:

• 4 board meetings a year (yes, really, that’s it)
• Chairing meetings and supporting good governance (keeping us organised, sensible, and vaguely on track)
• Working with the CEO and board on strategy and sustainability (helping us figure out where we’re going and how we keep the lights on)
• Helping us grow our impact and profile (shout about us everywhere you go!)
• Preparing a short annual Chair’s report (a few pages once a year, not writing War and Peace)

This is a voluntary role.

We had such a lovely session in Westhill recently, with people coming together to relax, get creative, and enjoy a few hours in good company.

From colourful creations and hands-on activities to laughter and conversation, it was a great reminder of how powerful simple moments of connection can be.
