We caught up with George from Gemintsu at Makers Central to chat all things CNC, software and getting started with the right tools 🛠️✨

What is step over in CNC software? 🤔
Step over is the sideways distance between each toolpath pass and it can make a big difference to both machining time and finish quality.
A larger step over, like 40%, can help machine your project faster.
A smaller step over, like 10%, creates a cleaner finish… but takes longer to cut.
In this example, the 40% step over takes around 1.5 hours, while the 10% step over takes over 5 hours 😳
So it all comes down to finding the right balance between speed and finish for your project.

It’s coming home… to the CNC machine. ⚽🏆
We used EasyCreate to generate a World Cup-style trophy with an England flag background, then brought it into EasyCarve to create a custom football plaque — complete with “Football’s Coming Home” at the top.
