Vectric Ltd. was founded i

n 2005 by Brian Moran and Tony McKenzie, who previously managed the specialist creative modelling and CNC machining software product range of a large UK CAD/CAM company. In forming Vectric, they applied more than 30 years of combined experience to create an entirely new range of software products that are quick and easy to learn, precise, self-supporting and, importantly, affordably priced. At Vectric we are genuinely "Passionate about CNC" and passionate about the CNC software products we create. We encourage every member of our team to regularly use all of our products for "real world, hands-on" jobs of their own, and we have even created a dedicated Machining Room (currently with 6 different types and sizes of CNC machine) in our UK head office, specifically for this purpose. We firmly believe that this constant focus on usability ensures that our software tools reliably remain the best in their class. This is a winning formula and Vectric has been rewarded with year-on-year growth ever since its foundation. In 2010 and 2017 Vectric was presented with the Queen's Award for Enterprise, in recognition of its remarkable success in international export. 🪧 Ready for your next Spark project?

In part two of our Getting Started series, we’re creating a simple shop sign while introducing even more of the tools available inside Vectric Spark.

You’ll learn how to:
⚡ Explore more VCarve toolpath options
🖼️ Trace a bitmap to create an outline
✏️ Edit and refine your vectors
🔤 Merge text into your design
🛠️ Turn it all into a project ready for your CNC

A simple project, but plenty of useful techniques you can carry into your own designs.

🔄 Two-sided machining made easier with a little bit of clever prep 👀

For this project, Dave needed everything to line up perfectly when flipping the material over… so he made his own 3D printed dowels to help locate the job accurately. 🙌

A simple idea, but a really useful tip if you’re tackling two-sided machining and want confidence that everything will stay aligned.

⚡ Spark is more powerful than you might think…

From intuitive drawing tools to VCarving, pockets and even inlays using different materials, there’s a lot you can do when you start pushing your projects a little further. 👀

In this reel, we take a design beyond the basics — using different toolpaths, layer management and separate files to create an inlaid sign with plenty of detail.

Think we should cut this one in the Vectric Labs? 👇

🍕 Thinking of making Nav’s Pizza Serving Board? Here are a few tips before you get started!
This brand-new free project is compatible with:
✨ Cut2D Desktop
✨ Cut2D Pro
✨ VCarve Desktop
✨ VCarve Pro
✨ Aspire
Nav’s biggest design tip is to think carefully about how the individual slice handles fit into the serving board. By adding fillets to the handles, you can create a fit that feels snug while still allowing each piece to be removed easily.
Planning to add some extra pizzazz with the Vectric Laser Module? 🔥 First, check that your laser is supported by visiting the Laser Module page on our website or contacting [email protected]
Watch the full tutorial at your own pace on the V&Co portal or the Vectric YouTube channel, and download the free project files from your V&Co account. 🙌
