How bright does your lighting need to be? There’s no single brightness level that’s right for every project. The ideal light output depends on the application, material, installation depth and desired effect.

How much light do I need to backlight stone or onyx?
Thicker, darker or less translucent materials generally require greater light output to achieve bright, even illumination.

What about illuminated ceilings?
If the ceiling provides functional as well as decorative lighting, higher brightness levels may be required.

Is brighter always better?
No. The aim is to achieve the right visual effect without unnecessary energy use or compromising visual comfort.
