A beautiful set of 24ct watergilded frames for a local client 🧡
These gorgeous paintings are by artist Frances Crichton Stewart. Part of a series of commissions depicting the sitter in the style of St Frances & the Wolf for which I had the pleasure of making these beautifully simple hand gilded frames with soft closed corners to compliment them.
I often hear people say they feel that gold is too much, or too showy.
But actually, more often than not, when used right it should make the work and draw your eye. Here the artist has used a beautiful diffused grey toned colour pallet, and the gold pings off this in a way that doesn't detract from the art but reflects it and draws your eye back in to it. Warming it and cooling it back down at once.
