Just a quick heads up- our community-owned petrol pump is currently out of action here in Applecross.

Diesel is working as normal however our local community company is waiting on spare parts to be delivered to repair this vital service.

Nearest fuel pump is 18 miles over the bealach in Lochcarron or 37 miles to Kinlochewe. Many thanks to the hardworking volunteers and staff who maintain this service.

Today, on International Dog Day, we're celebrating some of our favourite four-legged visitors. 🐾

Toivo, takes his role as Official Gallery Welcome Party very seriously. While he's always happy to greet our human visitors, there's nothing that gets his tail wagging quite like spotting another doggy coming to play.

Over the years, we've welcomed dogs of every shape and size through the gallery doors, each one bringing a little extra joy to the day.

To mark International Dog Day, we’re sharing some of our recent canine visitors with you.

Come behind the lens with us and find out how Jack captured his image of Applecross' very own coral beach, Àird Bhàn.

A favourite spot for everyone in the gallery tea. It truly comes to life throughout the summer. The turquoise waters become even brighter when the sun is shining, and on a dreich day, the view over to the Cuillin Hills becomes even more mysterious.

Many people have heard of the Bealach na Ba, but did you know that exactly 200 years ago this month, the Inverness Courier reported that the road (Which they spelled “Ballach na Bach”) was opened for the first time?

One of only two roads into and out of Applecross today, it was originally a “drovers road” used as early as the 6th or 7th century, before being upgraded and made suitable for a cart & trap in 1826.

To celebrate the anniversary the have created a new display where you can find lot’s of photographs, newspaper articles & an in depth history of this and the newer Coast Road which opened in 1975. Swipe to see a sneak peak of some of these historical photos.

They are open 12-4pm Monday to Saturday, make sure to add a visit to your itinerary!
