I'm really sorry but there will be no session again this week because of family duties. Normal service will be resumed next week. Yes, I know j said that last week but I'm pretty confident this time!

If you know of anyone who was planning to attend tomorrow, please let them know. Thank you.

A reminder that there will be no session tomorrow and I'm afraid I now have family commitments next week, Friday 8th May. The next session will be on 15th May.

If you know of anyone who may have been thinking of coming along, please let them know. Thank you

- 24th April - session as normal
- 1st May - no session
- 8th May onwards - sessions as normal

If you know of anyone who may have been planning to attend this week, please let them know. Thank you.

Passwords – a few simple tips:

We all know about the importance of keeping passwords safe and private, but here are three things people often overlook:

1. Don't use the same password for different sites. It's really important to use different passwords across all your accounts to reduce the risk of them being hacked or guessed.

2. How to remember all these different passwords? It's OK to write them down – as long as you keep the list somewhere safe, hidden, and away from your computer or phone.

3. Don't lose them! Being locked out of your email in particular is a real headache as it can stop you getting back into other accounts too.

I provide advice on topics like this every week at my drop-in sessions in St. Mary's Church Hall, Appledore on Fridays from 10.30 to 11.30am.

Hi, I'm really sorry for the short notice but we have an emergency veterinary appointment so I will not be able to run this morning's session. Not everyone who attends the sessions is on Facebook so if you know of anyone who may have been thinking of attending today, please let them know. Thank you.

How to help identify malicious emails:

I received this email today and I thought it would be useful to share.

When you receive unexpected emails, ALWAYS treat them with caution. If they are malicious, the sender will often try to cause some concern and/or instill some urgency.

I've added the pink speech bubbles to the one I received to show you the sort of things to look out for - unusual email addresses, requests for the recipient to click on links or buttons, and claims that sound plausible but which in fact can be easily checked.

The golden rules are:
1. Check all unexpected emails carefully using this one as an example.
2. Never click on links or buttons in emails that you are not expecting. If in doubt, use a web browser to go direct to the organisation's web site.
3. If you do click on anything malicious, never give out personal or payment details.

Remember, it's far better to be safe than sorry so always err on the side of caution. If someone is pressuring you to give information or payment, it's almost certain that they are not one of the good guys!

Happy New Year everyone. I'm looking forward to starting my sessions again from tomorrow, 9th January. Please note that for this week only, the session will start at 11am instead of 10.30. Hope to see some of you then.

Thank you to everyone who came to my IT help sessions this year. No two weeks were the same and as well as being able to help so many people, I was very happy to learn a thing or two myself. I'm taking a break for a couple of weeks but will be back in St Mary's Church Hall every Friday at 10.30am from 9th January. Merry Christmas!
