Still missing the Live Traffic app?

Same.

They switched it off in June and told everyone to check a website instead. Try that at 4am in a layby on the M6.

So we built our own. Every motorway and trunk A-road, England and Scotland, live incidents and roadworks with estimated clear times, the stuff you actually used it for.

And one thing the old one never had: drivers. See congestion on your road, tap "Still there", and the next driver behind you knows it's real. Traffic data
checked by the people sitting in it.

It's inside the TruckersEye beta, open to testers right now. Fill in the form, the download link lands in your email, and you're on it tonight.

A few of you asked, so here's the longer version.

We've been building this for a year. We've tested it
ourselves until we've gone completely blind to it —
you stop seeing the thing you look at every day.

So we need drivers. Not testers, drivers. People who'll
run it through a real week, a real tip, a bad night out,
and find everything we can't see any more.

Try and break it. Genuinely. Tip it over and tell us
what fell apart — that's the job, and it'd be doing us
a proper favour.

iPhone or Android, phone or tablet. We need all four,
and the tablet lot most of all — the tablet layout is
new and it's had the least real use.

Testers get three months of Pro, free, once we go live.

One thing to be straight about: the beta runs on the
live system. The account you make is your real account
and everything you put in it carries over at launch.
It's not a sandbox. Treat it like the real thing,
because it is.

September's coming.

We've gone quiet since the spring. Fair enough if you thought we'd packed it in.

We hadn't. We've been building.

Two of us. Both drivers, both still driving. Evenings after we've tipped, weekends, a laptop on the bunk in a layby the best part of a year of it now. No investors, no agency, no office. Just two blokes who got fed up of apps for this job being built by people who've never done the job.

We're aiming for September.

And we're saying "aiming" on purpose. We'd rather be straight with you and land a fortnight late than promise a date and dress it up when it slips. You get enough of that off everyone else in this industry.

What is it? Not saying yet.
