I was approached recently to quote a customer for a new computer. The customer creates a lot of video content and had a significant amount of data (almost 3TB), which he wanted easy access to.
I quoted him for a system with an SSD + HDD combo. He thought that hard drives where a thing of the past, so we got to talking about why this was the best solution for his needs.

A huge thank you to Matt Maguire of Blackwood Engineering, for dropping off over 40 Dell Optiplex desktops for recycling or refurbishment! We are currently in the process of securely erasing all data and performing rigorous hardware testing.

While these systems (featuring legacy i5/i7 processors, 250GB SSD's, and 16GB RAM) may not meet the requirements for Windows 11, they remain excellent workhorses for everyday tasks. We plan to give them a second life by installing a Linux-based operating system, providing a high-performance, low-cost solution for those who need a reliable PC for the basics.

A note on Windows:
While we can reinstall Windows 10 upon request, please keep in mind that Microsoft is nearing the end of support for that OS. For long-term security and performance, we highly recommend one of our Linux builds.

Any units that don't meet our refurbishment standards will be responsibly recycled.
