Laptops are still coming in thick and fast - thanks to everyone who has donated a device so far - you're all heroes!

9 laptops are due to be delivered to Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form on Friday and 8 tablets to White Court School tomorrow morning.

Like most of us during lockdown - we've had times where we've wanted to do something to make a difference, but unsure of what we could do, if anything - especially with the restrictions in place.

This project has allowed us and everyone that has donated and been involved, to do just a little something to make life easier for people in our community - so thank you to Dick Chaplin for getting the project setup and public, and for everyone for being so generous.

Hi all - just a quick message to advise that our workshop is currently closed as 75% of us are isolating - pending Covid test results.

We're all OK - just being careful ☺️

If you're popping by to drop in a laptop for donation - not a problem, our friends at Curtis Signs Braintree Ltd are more than happy to take them in. They can be found at Unit 37, just around the corner from our workshop!

So far we're going great guns with laptops and we're doing our best to work on as many as we can. We've charged through 10 in the last 24 hours and they're all perfectly usable - as soon as we're allowed back outside, we'll set to getting them out to students.

What can we say? The donations have been coming in thick and fast and we're over the moon that so many people have been so kind.

The response has really lifted us all at General Geek - it's been a rough year for everyone however - human kindness always shines through, no matter how tough it gets.

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far - please keep them coming in and we'll be setting to work this coming week 😊

So far we've had an amazing response from the public for donations of unused laptops, desktops and tablets! Thank you all for your support so far, we've around a dozen laptops, 2 iMacs and a few tablets which we'll be setting to work on shortly.

If you've a laptop gathering dust in your house - please get in touch! It doesn't matter whether it's a little old, what we're looking to achieve is to get a functioning computer to as many families as we can, not necessarily an immaculate one.

If the battery is dead, or the keyboard/mouse knackered - not a problem, all we need is a good solid machine to worth with and we can do the rest.

So, get hunting people - let's keep it going 😊

General Geek are currently taking in older, unused computers for use by children who don't have access to one at home.

It's a difficult time for all children, and even harder if you're unable to access online learning materials. We all take technology for granted and something we assume everyone has access to - but this isn't always the case.

All donations are welcomed - and we'll be ensuring we can refurb as many machines as we can and assisting in getting them to children who need them the most.

So - if you've an older machine that you no longer use and it could be put to use again with a little TLC - please get in touch!

Every machine donated, will be refurbished by us for free :-)
