✨ The Godmother Designs is reloading… ✨After almost six years of silence, I’ve decided it’s time to reopen The Godmother Designs. There’s a lot of life behind these years, so I thought I’d explain where I’ve been.
During the 2020 lockdown, I was one of the 3 million who received no government support. This was because I had a small part time job which was furloughed during lockdown, so I had received some income… so of course I didn’t need government help.
At the same time, my husband became seriously ill with an undiagnosed illness (which began in March 2020, a week after the UK went into lockdown). People weren’t really shopping online, and many of my B2B customers were forced to close during the lockdowns, so naturally they didn’t need much either.
In August 2020, my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer. There were so many things happening at once. I didn’t have the time or, quite honestly, the right headspace to continue working on and building my business.
Early in 2021, I made the decision to go back to work full-time in a “normal” job rather than continue working part-time and struggling to rebuild my business, alongside the uncertain future. At the time, it felt like the right thing to do. A guaranteed income, no stress from managing my own business, and stability for me was important when my husband was too unwell to work.
I still had a huge passion for design, but I rarely had the time to sit down and actually work on The Godmother Designs. My time was taken up with a full-time job, caring for my husband, family time, normal household chores… and a second puppy who joined us in December 2020! 🐶
In January 2022, my husband became very poorly and went downhill extremely quickly following a sepsis infection. We were told his illness was now terminal, had a referral to the lovely St Margaret’s team, and told he had “short months” left. He passed away in June 2022.
Everything in life came to a halt. I took time to be with my husband during his final weeks, and then to plan the best and worst event I have ever had to organise. His funeral.
Since then, life has slowly moved forward. Now, after almost six years of complete silence, I’ve decided to reopen The Godmother Designs. For now, I’m going to start by selling my prints as digital downloads (website uploading!). I’m making The Godmother Designs more of a hobby again rather than a full-time business. But we’ll see how things go. ✨

So… hello again. 👋 The Godmother Designs is back. Slightly revamped branding. Same base designs. But a little older. A little wiser. A little different. But still creating, with plenty of room for some new ideas. 🤍✨
