This sums up the change in process for the isolation series perfectly. After working so much over my life as an artist in portraiture, the outcome was always very much determined before I started. There was an expectation and goal that was defined by how much the final piece looked like the subject.

Being out of practice, I found this pressure to be debilitating in my sense of freedom to create, so I have worked on breaking the chains of expectation and go with the flow, doing my best to observe my creative journey and process rather than having a goal in mind.
