As promised, a more in depth look at the IC-SAT100 from Icom.
This is a beyond line of site (BLOS) push to talk radio using the Iridium constellation of low earth orbit satellites.
Talkgroups are set up and managed using a remote portal, enabling you to define multiple areas of operation, in which your device can work.
For example, you may have a team in Almaty, Kazakhstan and another in Luanda, Angola, with a control centre in London. Using the portal, you simply draw an individual circle over each one of those three locations, and any IC-SAT100's within that circle will now communicate with each other.
If the operation now moves from Luanda to Lubango, for example, you simply draw another circle over the new location, and it is now added to the group. This allows you to build up multiple areas of coverage to suit your operation, and re-position them as frequently as you need to.
Handset price is USD1,200.00 and the monthly subscription per user is USD75.00.
