After you sign up for a developer account on BlackBerry World, you will be sent a monthly "BlackBerry World Vendor Newsletter" via email. Whilst the information contained within the emails is generally interesting and useful, the overall look of the newsletter is as uninspiring as its name. The latest edition, however, has received a major makeover, and has been renamed. The latest edition of the newsletter explains, " The new name, Developer Drive, aligns with our goal of bringing you information, resources, tools and more that will help drive your success as a BlackBerry World Vendor." Today, BlackBerry announced via the BlackBerry Developer Blog that they have updated their app vetting criteria. The blog post (which can be read here) goes into more detail about the changes, saying " have updated our policies to prevent content with strong sexual connotations to be distributed through the store." All BlackBerry 10 handsets (as well as some smartphones made by other manufacturers) are equipped with NFC capability - but what exactly is NFC and how can it be used? At its simplest, NFC (or Near Field Communication) is just another method of transferring data over short distances (typically up to 10cm) in a similar way to how Bluetooth works. With the impending release of BlackBerry 10.3.1, we thought now would be a great time to inform you of a new feature that is guaranteed to save you time and therefore improve your productivity – the Quick Compose Shortcut! Every BlackBerry 10 device with a physical keyboard can have app shortcuts or speed dials assigned to (almost) all of the keys (“W” is locked to your Voice Mail speed dial), however in the upcoming release of 10.3.1, you can now assign a Quick Compose Shortcut – this allows you to assign both a communication method (BBM, email, SMS, Facebook, LinkedIn and so on) AND a specific contact from your Contacts app to a single key.
