Three new recruits have joined Vertali’s NTZ initiative – a five-year training and education program developing the next generation of mainframe professionals.

NTZ identifies talent and provides up to nine months of detailed preparation, followed by mentoring, on-the-job experience and mandatory training.

“NTZ is part of our efforts to close the skills gap and deliver for our clients while helping our own people to develop their careers,” says Mark Lupton, Talent Acquisition Manager at Vertali. “That means ensuring a supportive culture and workplace founded on skills development, knowledge transfer, and hands-on experience.”

Congratulations to our latest Employees of the Month, Sruthi Srinivasa Baba and Corinne Ball.

Technical Consultant, Sruthi has taken on a huge amount of responsibility delivering an incredible volume of work. One colleague described her as 'nothing short of exceptional' and another compared her to Moonwind from the Disney movie Soul, effortlessly spinning all the plates while also finding time to support everyone around her. She helps and supports others with their tasks, never afraid to give her time, spreading the love so willingly.

Corinne has stepped up as Vertali has grown, taking on greater responsibility within our Accounts Team and successfully moving into a more senior accounting role. She has embraced every new challenge with enthusiasm, a real willingness to learn and an impressive determination to develop her skills.

Both are shining examples of the people who make Vertali what it is.

Meet Billy, our latest employee!

Our company Ethos ‘Protect’ isn't just something we do, it's part of who we are. That's why we're introducing Billy the bunny, our new company mascot. Billy's name (short for William) comes from the Germanic origin of William, meaning ‘resolute protector’.

He represents our commitment to:
- Protecting the mainframe
- Protecting our clients
- Protecting our people and their wellbeing
- Protecting the values that define who we are

Billy is more than just a mascot. He is a reminder that trust is earned through vigilance, responsibility, and care. Because ‘Protect’ isn't a single action - it's our promise.

You'll be seeing Billy appearing across our communications, in-person at SHARE in Pittsburgh, GS-UK and other events we attend, helping us tell the story of how we safeguard our clients, people, values and the mainframe.

NEW VERTALI PODCAST EPISODE! "Women in Mainframe: Two Early Career Journeys into a Surprisingly Inclusive Industry."

What if one of technology's most welcoming and collaborative communities was also one of its least understood?

In our latest episode, host Ed Nell is joined by Vertali's Nishka Sardar and Simran Sharma, two Technical Consultants on our New to Z (NTZ) programme, to discuss their unconventional journeys into the mainframe industry.

From discovering mainframes at university and industry conferences to building careers in security and infrastructure, they share what the past year has really been like and why they believe the future of mainframe depends on bringing new voices into the industry.

In this episode, we discuss:
• Why the mainframe community is one of tech's most supportive
• How mentorship can shape a career from day one
• Why sharing your journey helps inspire the next generation
• The surprising history of women in mainframe computing
• What it's really like to start a career through Vertali's New to Z program.

One takeaway stood out above all: people stay in mainframe partly because of the community.

Whether you're a student exploring career options, an experienced mainframer, or simply curious about an industry that's quietly powering the world's critical systems, this conversation is well worth a listen.

Celebrating our latest Employee of the Month - Andy Taylor! The best recognition is when it comes directly from a client!

A client recently shared some fantastic feedback following the successful completion of a complex migration project, highlighting not only the expertise and experience of the team but also the willingness to go above and beyond to support them every step of the way.

One line stood out in particular:

"The success of the migration project would not have been possible without the expertise, extensive experience and knowledge demonstrated by the entire team."

Behind feedback like this are individuals who consistently go the extra mile, and Andy embodies exactly that. His dedication, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering the best outcomes for our clients played a huge part in making this project such a success. He also embodies our company ethos of protecting our clients, employees, values and the mainframe.

Thank you, Andy for your hard work, professionalism, and for representing the values that make Vertali such a trusted partner to our clients.

Congratulations on being named our Employee of the Month – thoroughly deserved!
